On second thought, they are not slowing the advance to something better. They are going in the complete opposite direction.

Girlie: repeat your dumb remark while having your period is immature!!!

Source: ‘Trump said to do so’: Accounts of rioters who say the president spurred them to rush the Capitol could be pivotal testimony - The Washington Post

<Poll of the week: A new Quinnipiac University poll finds that President Donald Trump’s approval rating stands at 33%, while his disapproval is at 60%.
An average of recent polls finds Trump with a 38% approval rating and 59% disapproval rating.
What’s the point: A big question during the Trump presidency was whether anything could actually move the public opinion needle. It turns out that the insurrection at the US Capitol last week did exactly that.
The result is that Trump’s final first term approval rating looks to be the lowest on record dating back since scientific polling began.

As far as Trump's approval rating go, which polls do we trust. As the editor correctly points out, the methodology of many of them leans heavily to over sampling Democrats.

Do we believe this poll or do we believe polls such as Rasmussen that show Trump's approval rating essentially unchanged. Keep on mind Rasmussen has a long and successful track record including during the last election cycle. Furthermore the media has largely chosen to ignore Rasmussen except for perhaps a couple of articles. After all they're clearly trying to push a narrative and if Rasmussen was/is inaccurate we'd expect 24/7 media attacks on the pollster. The fact that it's being largely ignored serves as further confirmation that Rasmussen is correct and the Quinnipiac Poll and others are inaccurate messaging.

To borrow a term often used by the editor, my "gut" suggests in light of the unfortunate events of 1/6 there is a vast ocean of Trump supporters who will not say so publicly and will punish the Republican party if they deal treacherously with him or vote for impeachment.

For team Trump to hold a "rally" at that time was collossally bad judgement. Of course unscrupulous elements were going to infiltrate it and it took the spotlight off of very real Democrat electoral shenanigans. This was an unforced error on their part.

Another unforced error is having upwards of 20K US troops in DC for the inauguration of Biden. This many troops is wholly unnecessary to handle a few lawbreakers. This is at best bad optics and the US has always had an image of stability. An unstable country can't be host of the world reserve currency. Cowering in fear of a few lawbreakers isn't the stuff of good leadership!!
