Ten of the world’s most infectious diseases identified by the WHO not being catered for by drug firms
The world’s biggest pharmaceutical firms are little prepared for the next pandemic despite a mounting response to the Covid-19 outbreak, an independent report has warned.
Jayasree K Iyer, executive director of the Netherlands-based Access to Medicine Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation funded by the UK and Dutch governments and others, highlighted an outbreak of the Nipah virus in China, with a fatality rate of up to 75%, as potentially the next big pandemic risk.
“Nipah virus is another emerging infectious disease that causes great concern,” she said. “Nipah could blow any moment. The next pandemic could be a drug-resistant infection.”

WNU Editor: There are a lot of things that we are not doing right now, and not developing new antibiotics that can combat diseases and infections that are drug resistant are on the top of my list. But as my brother who is in the bio-tech field told me last year. There is no money to be made to research and develop new medicines to combat drug-resistant infections.

The world is not and never will be ready for the next pandemic. This is almost by definition.

As cramped as gypsies live, they should all be dead and they would except for their hygiene standards.
De Blasio and other ne'er do wells would do well to imitate their better ways. For some odd reason for months De Blasio resisted washing down trains every day. De Blasion was thinking very logically. Every penny wasted on train hygiene could it spent on his wife's latest boondoggle.
If you are going to grow the US population 3 to 5 million a year with legal and illegal immigration, lockdowns, social distancing, and vaccines are not going to cut it. It will take rising wages, wealth, productivity, and freedom, which are anathema to The Left.
Which bring sup a related subject. How do the Zero Population Growth (ZPG) idiots, liberals all, reconcile unlimited immigration with ZPG?
