Australians and Kiwis are looking at the very real possibility of being shut off from the rest of the world for at least another year.
The two countries, often touted by the media and the “public health expert” class as a COVID-19 response success story (and described by the likes of Dr. Anthony Fauci as countries that the United States should model their response after), may remain closed off from the rest of the world until 2022.
In a conversation with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation on Monday, Aussie Department of Health Secretary Brendan Murphy, the country’s top health official, revealed: “I think that we’ll go most of this year with still substantial border restrictions.”

Profile of those dying from COVID very much fits people on social security. More so it fits the older half of social security with comorbidities in addition.
You do not ruin the human race so you can push rope. You develop vaccines, you practice social distancing with seniors, and you go on with life.
How is that the elderly death count comes 50% or more from nursing homes? One they lie about terminal patients dying with COVID as dying from COVID. That is a terrible self serving lie by politicians and others.
Between the 2 facts that they keep moving the goal posts and it is always 1 year to 18 months out and that with all the 'professional medical care by nursing home staff somehow patients keep dying of COVID.
Are not nursing home staff practicing social distancing, hygiene, and masking? Unless you are going to blame them from only haphazardly practicing controls.
So why do so many nursing home patients die?
Maybe all the masking, social distancing and hygiene in the world cannot prevent the spread.
So what is left is accepting the risk assuming people believe in risk management. Continue research, vaccinating and more. but research takes money or RIK. RIK or money takes people working. Putting 10% or 20% of people on the dole is going to slow or stop research. But that is what politicians whose only qualification is being able to utter the word "science" are doing.
That is the stupidest plan I have seen. So in 2022 when you reopen here comes Covid again in a new strain.
And it's proven now to be based on false positives by vastly overcycling the PCR threshold, blowing up molecules from other corona classes like the common flu.

Look at the people who die. .all sorts of symptoms. This is not because a mysterious covid19 virus that has never been isolated by the way, we only know of some dna fragments which are very common. So the people who die of stroke, pneumonia, or even those who die in car crashes and are all covid positive is BS oversampling

If you are a political opponent you'll be isolated in covid camps. And covid is real and deadly, just not aa omnipresent as the fake tests /false positives make us believe.

Kiwis are accepting the economic cost.
As for tourism (the main loser in all this), roughly 12 years ago NZ received less than a million tourists.
Last year we got roughly 4 million. Half of those are from Australia. My point is that tourism is still a relative newcomer to the NZ economy. Sure, many small towns will suffer, but a year on they’re mostly (sadly) accepting their fate (case in point being Te Anau, a wonderful place). The nations’ Plan B is opening up a border to Aussie. Eventually.
Still, us NZers are enjoying a mostly CV19 free summer.
In truth most businesses are down (apart from construction and associated enterprises), but we all have to adapt to survive.
As I write this from the privilege of my holiday home basking in the sun overlooking the water on a long Auckland Anniversary Weekend, I can’t help but feel lucky.
It could’ve been much worse.

Either way, surfs up on the east coast, I have a family BBQ later today, my tan looks wonderful and the NZ cricket team is the world #1 test ranked team.
So life is good.

Life years is a legitimate measure of health care.
12%, 15% and 20% contractions in economies are not a fair trade off for extending a senior's life 5 months or 1 year. It is just not. Most everyone has seniors in their families and so has skin in the game.
