China has locked down three cities as new cases erupted in Hebei surrounding the capital city Beijing, raising worries about a second wave in a nation that had mostly contained the disease

Global Times (China): Millions neighboring Beijing under lockdown as Hebei vows resolute epidemic control
Emerging silent infections in several provinces a result of early detection
About 22 million people in three cities of Hebei Province neighboring the capital Beijing have been placed under COVID-19 lockdown as of Tuesday, twice the size of the population that was put under lockdown during the Wuhan epidemic, as Hebei has vowed to take resolute measures to prevent the epidemic from spreading to the capital.
The lockdown measures in Hebei cities - Shijiazhuang, Xingtai and Langfang - were not as harsh as Wuhan's as residents in Hebei could go downstairs to pick up their deliveries or purchase food from stores inside their residential communities.
Vehicles and people in the three cities are not allowed to leave, unless necessary, Hebei authorities said at Tuesday's news briefing.

WNU Editor: What I like about the Chinese Covid-19 response are the mass testing that occur when an infection is found, and the tracing of who met who that then follows. The widespread use of N-95 masks and proper medical masks when being in a public place also helps.

I disagree. I think masks only help with droplets and perhaps aerosols.
You look at a close-up of empty suit Joe Biden and you see a large air gap between his nose, cheek, and mask. Air being inhaled is going to take the path pf least resistance. But maybe it won't and we will have to rewrite all the engineering and physics books and burn those published before 2021.
The mesh size of the masks are large than the particle size of the viruses. As it gets cold the viruses are not likely to be attached to much water since the air is arid. So particle size does matter.
I think it comes down to more handwashing than anything else. A person not using moisturizer is a dead give away that they do #1 and #2 without washing their hands. Ask Menken, if people wash their hands.
The only virus spread response beyond the bla bla bla in the media was a free scan at the local jr. college. An event, free of charge, ignored by seemingly nearly the entire community out here despite announcements through various media efforts.
Myself, I would not hesitate to avail myself of free testing for the virus when I entered a store or other building.

I said N-95 and medical masks.
It is what they use in the hospitals, and it is very effective.
Facial/cloth/etc. masks. They are a waste of time.
What Biden wears is also not effective because he does not put it on right, and no one is correcting him.
Mass testing?
WNU wake the fck up, even Chinese citizens report it's all for show.
They test about 50,000 of the 22 million for a photo op.you've been there. You know. So why the ignorance?
The only country in the world, whereby I feel joy at this news and hope it goes on the rampage. I don't feel great that people will die, but it would be nice to have the global playing field a little more level...
Does this make me a bad person?
"“Breathing and talking generate particles around 1 micron in size, which will be collected by N95 respirator filters with very high efficiency,”"

My opinion is that yes the N95 has high efficiency. If you are in a situation like the Tokyo subway, the mask will be challenged over a 1,000 times in one trip.
In chemistry class we were told that there were studies that showed it is almost impossible not to touch your face with your hands. You can wear your mask properly and still fall prey to that.
IMO you have to accept the risk and not lockdown the general public and do everything else you can do. Older more susceptible people will be very careful as it should be.
I find it odd that nursing homes have cases ranging over 2 months or more. You would think the nursing staff would have caught the virus and cleared it from their system. So the staff should no longer be spreaders unless they were like Typhoid Mary. Herd immunity among nursing home staff is an interesting problem.
It's hard to know what they are doing in China, because all we know is what they tell us...
China had an artic cold blast. It is abnormally cold for a weak or two. This is known for sure. They have a problem with COVID. Do the math. Not the only variable, but you can rank variables.
Where are the fucking data miners, physicists, engineers and others?
