What To Expect From President Biden's Pentagon?

President-elect Biden, Vice-President elect Harris, and nominee for Secretary of Defense, Gen. Lloyd Austin

John Rossomando, National Interest: Biden Opts for Mediocrity in the Defense Department

America needs a Defense Department led by people who live in the real world instead of wishful thinking and false narratives.

President-elect Joe Biden’s choices to run the Pentagon suggest he prefers people he’s comfortable with instead of people with successful track records confronting America’s enemies. This is true of Biden’s nominee for Secretary of Defense, Gen. Lloyd Austin, and Undersecretary of Defense for Policy, Colin Kahl.

Both men helped formulate and execute the Obama administration’s failed policies in the Middle East that emboldened Iran and failed to deter the spread of ISIS. Democrats have said they wanted competence, but their track records suggest they have a lack of understanding of the Middle East and of military strategy.

WNU Editor: I do expect Gen. Lloyd Austin to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate to be the next US Secretary of Defense. I also do not expect much from his tenure. Listening and reading to what the incoming Biden administration wants to do, the impression I have is that the soon to be US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin is only there to manage its decline, and he will not voice any disagreements.

So Austin gets the aristocratic title of "Honorable". He also gets the $$$.

Meanwhile troops get less training and and less equipment. They will experience higher casualties.

Is that honorable?
