President Vladimir Putin’s announcement in August that Russia had cleared the world’s first Covid-19 vaccine for use before it even completed safety trials sparked skepticism worldwide.
Now he may reap diplomatic dividends as Russia basks in arguably its biggest scientific breakthrough since the Soviet era.
Countries are lining up for supplies of Sputnik V after peer-reviewed results published in The Lancet medical journal this week showed the Russian vaccine protects against the deadly virus about as well as U.S. and European shots, and far more effectively than Chinese rivals.

On a personal note. All of my family in Russia (with the exception of those who are young) have already been vaccinated. I live in Montreal, Canada, and I have no firm date on when I and my 94 year old mother will get vaccinated.

My 87 year old mother is scheduled for first dose on Thursday. Also she received a call yesterday that a long time friend (92) died of a stroke 10 days after getting vaccinated...I'm sure it was just a coincidence, but its not sitting well with her.
Arteries get harder as you age. So of course, your stroke risk increases One way to fight it is to drink every day. One oz and 1 ounce only. A very disreputable commenter here does have 1 drink per day. Scientist do have a metabolic pathway identified as to why alcohol works. Of course too much makes you liver work too hard and trashes it.
I would advise you to get you mother moving with some really light exercise for 20 minutes or whatever the doctor recommends to change her blood chemistry ahead of the shot.

There is a metabolic pathway identified HCQ, but much of the 'science' establishment trashed it for political reasons. Now HCQ has been rehabilitated like it was the old USSR or China now that Orange Man is gone.
