US Defense Secretary Austin Tells NATO US Will Not Undertake A Hasty Exit From Afghanistan

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin assured NATO allies on Thursday that the United States will not withdraw from Afghanistan in a hasty or disorderly manner, the Pentagon said in a statement.

"He told the Allies that the US is conducting a thorough review of the conditions of the US-Taliban Agreement to determine whether all parties have adhered to those conditions. And he made clear that he is committed to consulting with Allies and partners throughout this process.

He reassured Allies that the US would not undertake a hasty or disorderly withdrawal from Afghanistan," the statement said.

WNU Editor: Publicly the Secretary of Defense is mum on Afghanistan .... Lloyd Austin mum on Afghanistan withdrawal plan as NATO adds troops in Iraq (Washington Examiner). But if the above reports are true, it looks like the U.S. will not be withdrawing anytime soon.

Austin is a politicking damn fool. But a richly rewarded fool. He'll have blood on his hands.

Per Mr. Miller, Obama actually had the correct strategy in Afghanistan. Then Obama pulled a President Hoover.

Obama’s Failed Legacy in Afghanistan by PAUL D. MILLER

IMO that is exactly what Obama did. He pulled a Herbert Hoover. Herbert Hoover believed in deficit spending. A lot of people did. Belief in deficit spending being good was state of the art or de rigueur in the early 1920s, 10 years before fugly FDR showed is sourpuss.

Keynes extoled it. Hoover believed it. Infrastructure project which were infeasible, were planned and shelved in anticipation of them being needed during a trough in the business cycle. Deficit spending should be short and sharp. Not prolonged and forever. Hoover did not go big enough.

Neither did Obama.

Obama went big (or at least bigger).

But here is the problem. The ISI raised him. Obama folded.

So here we are a decade after Obama folded and the 800 pound elephant in the room still unacknowledged. Why stay?

Certainly, I want to win. Certainly I want to shut up anyone who does a sing song of Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan...

But why stay?

Why stay when the enemy is receiving ample funding form an American ally and has a safe area bigger than Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut?

Why stay?

At least if Austin is going to help enact these stupid policies, he could at least wear a pink tutu and lose a few pounds ... be eye candy.

Who first went into Afghanistan? Why? Who took most of our forces out of that country and why?
all the nonsense in the comment above this one is pure stupidity

George W. Bush went not Afghanistan first with the consent of the Congress. Congress passed the Authorization for Use of Military Force of 2001. You do know what that is, don't you? The word authorization has 5 syllables and with you reading comprehension below that of a pre-schooler, we all have doubts about you understanding what the AUMF means.

"Who took most of our forces out of that country and why?" Obama

Reason #1
Why? The ISIs raised the ante and Obama folded.

Reason #2
Why? Might be that Obama and his Pakistani roommate might have been an ___m.

Why stay when it is self-evident it is untenable militarily and morally.
