Can The U.S. Prevent A War Over Taiwan?

Robert D. Blackwill and Philip Zelikow, War On The Rocks:
Can The United States Prevent A War Over Taiwan?

Taiwan is becoming the most dangerous flashpoint in the world. Events in and involving the small democracy could spark a war that draws in the United States, China, Japan, and possibly others. The administration of President Joe Biden should develop a more credible U.S. strategy to deter such a war.

What even many watchers of world politics could neglect, distracted by so many other global problems and noisemakers, is how much the situation surrounding Taiwan has changed in the last few years. China’s decision to crush local governance and effective rule of law in Hong Kong has had large effects. It changed politics in Taiwan in favor of a president whom China regards as a separatist. Chinese leaders doubled down on xenophobic nationalism and repression, escalating pressure on Taiwan both rhetorically and militarily. Taiwan has begun a significant program of rearmament with a seriousness not seen in a generation, supported by the United States, yet there is a significant window of time before this program can bear sufficient fruit.

WNU Editor: The U.S. does have leverage over China that can "persuade it" to not invade Taiwan. But over time I am not sure, and China is clearly playing the long game when it comes to Taiwan. But if Beijing should make the decision to launch a military offensive against Taiwan, there is nothing much that we can do to stop it. The question then becomes .... do we go to war against China over Taiwan? I know many in China have made the calculation that the Biden administration allies will not get involved.

Even before Democrats stole the election and put a compromised, corrupt senile pedophile in the office, I said not to just accept going to war over Taiwan.

Sure, it's geostrategic gold for containment purposes of China, BUT I'm not for the containment of China just to contain them. Let them grow. It's their right just as it's ours!

BUT... IF the Chinese truly have concentration camps, do perform forced sterilisation and organ harvesting on ethnic minorities, then they're basically NAZIS.

In that case I'm not only for containment but eradication of any CCP member responsible for this.

So my guess is all sides know this, and will push a lot of propaganda in the next years

For the dumb readers among us, the "toxic white Male"and "aggressive whites", is the Chinese basic program paid for with scholar grants at your universities. The media and mouth breathers that pick it up and propagate it are basically helping China.

Keep in mind, the Chinese are messaging this to their people at home for years now, that white people are evil(and if you've been to China you know what they think of black people, even less).. and they message this "white imperialism "nonsense to other nations in Asia which they hope to turn against the west in case of conflict

Myanmar is already aligning itself with China

Vietnam is likely going with the west, so is Thailand... but it's not certain.. the Democrats are so stupid and naive that they help amplify Chinese racism and cultural warfare against us. Idiots all around

If Taiwan has no peace treaties with the USA, no war between the USA & China. 🙉
