Those who are defending the President are saying that this is how people who suffer from stuttering respond in a tense situation. The problem with that argument is that there is almost 50 years of Joe Biden video out there, and in all of those years he was always sharp and focused. It has only been in the past 2 to 3 years that his memory lapses has kicked in. And it has gotten worse since the Presidential election.
Seeing the President like this always pains me. My mother has the same medical condition. The only difference is that my mother's condition is 2 to 3 years more advanced than President Biden.
Vice-President Harris is there to make sure that this does not turn into a disaster.

Joe Biden is either stage 5 or stage 6.
Austin is not a family member, but he is one of a small core of people that Joe should be on a 11st name basis. Since Joe knew Austin when he was a Vice president, it is like Austin's name is not a newly remembered name.

Joe is not going to make it through mid terms as president. It would be better for Democrats to 25th amendment him this fall or the Xmas holiday as a news dump than to have his negative coat tails sink the party.
Democrats made this bed. They are going to have to sleep in it.
I do admire that Joe covered for his mistake. That shows resilience. It is good for him, but still no good for the nation.
