The controversial Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline project will definitely be completed this year, Viktor Zubkov, chairman of the board of directors of Russia's gas giant Gazprom, said on Friday.
"The active work is underway, with quite a bit remaining to be done," Zubkov told reporters, as carried by Russian news agency TASS.
"It will surely be completed this year, definitely," Zubkov noted.
Around 90-92 percent of the work required for the project has already been done, the Gazprom executive said.

Thus we had Germany's OstPolitik and RealPolitik. Buchanan lays out 3 reasons why the US objects #1 and #3 are solid reasons. Number 2 is not a good reason at all for the Germans. Germans have a budget too. To borrow the excrement vocabulary of the Left, some of them are experiencing fuel poverty due to the Green energy policies of the selfish and foolish. I think it would be cheaper and more reliable to pipe that gas from Russia than to ship it from America. It would also be safer. At home we tell crazy ass liberals that the Keystone pipeline is safer than trucking oil or shipping by rail car. In reply, all we hear is laughter of Warren Buffet making another huge bank deposit and denials by liberal furies and harpies.
Reason #1 is interesting. If a pipeline crosses the EEZ of a country, should it not pay a transit tax? Maybe Maritime law says no. It looks as though the pipeline might be within 12 miles of Tallinn or the coast their. Maybe Estonia could collect a transit tax instead of Poland. And promptly get invaded!
Number 3 is a very good reason not to buy form the Russians. Germany could still be burning coal for a while and operate nuclear power plants. They could also in prove their fucking energy grid, so they could transmit wind power from northern Germany to southern Germany. They are such believers in wind power and then they pull that shit.

I think Russia should be an ally in face of the CCP threat. I do not see how it would happen. Nancy Pelosi Chuck U. Germany should not be taking Russian gas. But if they do and in a war Russia shuts off the valves in the pipeline, it is time to go nuclear. Battle of Jutland proved that.
The Baltic Sea is a shallow sea. Why don't the Estoni9an or Swedes take a page out of the Chinese playbook and place dry land over the pipeline and collect transit taxes from Moscow?
I look at NS2 as Germany’s Declaration of Independence from the USA. Once it’s completed Germany will treat the USA as just another power center to balance, no different from China, Russia or Turkey.
