Russian State Agency Says 200,000 Russians Have Died Of Covid-19 Since The Start Of The Pandemic

Russian authorities turn ice palace into temporary hospital for COVID-19 patients in Moscow

Another grim milestone has been reached in Russia's fight against Covid-19, with Moscow officials confirming that more than 200,000 deaths linked to the virus have been recorded since the first fatality just under a year ago.

Rosstat, the country's statistical authority, announced on Friday that 37,107 people had died while infected with the coronavirus in January, putting the overall official number of dead at 200,432 and potentially giving the country the third-highest total death toll in the world after the US and Brazil.

However, when measured on a per capita basis, the world's largest country has seen lower mortality rates than other European nations like the UK, Italy and France.

WNU Editor: According to John Hopkins, there has only been 87,00- Covid-19 deaths in Russia. But I trust the Russian state agency number that says over 200,000 Russians have died from Covid-19.

On a personal note. All my family, friends, and contacts in Russia did not get sick from Covid-19. My aunt and her family in Ukraine were all infected, with my aunt's husband spending 6 weeks in a hospital before he was released. He is still suffering respiratory problems. My other relatives in Ukraine have been spared.

Actually per 100,000 Russia beat Brasil.

But news media being the soy boys they are cannot consistently give complete statistical data.
