Will NORAD Be Modernized?

This map shows the extent of the North Warning System of radar stations as envisioned by Canada and the United States in 1987. When NORAD is modernized, it’s possible these radar stations may be moved further north. (Map courtesy of Department of National Defence)

The old proverb "silence is golden" is pretty much the best way to describe the unwritten rule within the halls of power in Ottawa regarding NORAD, the North American Aerospace Defence Command.

The Liberal government has been largely silent on the matter.

The defence policy, four years ago, made passing reference to the anticipated multibillion dollar modernization of the North Warning System, the backbone of NORAD. After that, silence.

WNU Editor: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and U.S. President Joe Biden made a commitment to the modernization of NORAD and its chain of 47 radar stations running from Labrador to Alaska after they held a virtual meeting on Feb. 23. These radar stations are now obsolete and their lifespan ends in 2025. The cost to modernize NORAD will be approximately $11 billion, and while Trudeau and Biden have committed to modernizing NORAD, it remains unclear when this will happen.

They better commit the funds to this modernization project quickly. There is a lot of action happening on the border .... US general says NORAD responded to more Russian military flights near Alaska last year than any year since the Cold War (Business Insider).

I do not comprehend the CBC "analysis" piece. What does it say?

Does Brewster want people to discuss this so instead of ballistic missile warning, there is also hypersonic missile warning and cruise missile warning as well?

Is Brewster for or against BMD?

Moscow had ballistic missile defense during the time of the oh s "sacred" "START treaties. During the 1980s Washington DC did not. It is why I and many others consider the State Department filled with a bunch of punks, who should be stranded in the middle of a BLM march.

If Canada does not want to participate in BMD, why are they considered an US ally? Maybe Canada is as valuable as an ally to the US as Portugal was to Britain during WW2?

Is Brewster for or against defence or tracking of missiles of any type?

Is Brewster suggesting that Canada flow the German model. That is foreign aid money counts as defence dollars?

Brewster is asking for a public discussion about missile tracking and defense.

All in all the article makes conservatives, liberals and voters (most) all look like cucks.

"Pratt was at the centre of the political hurricane that was BMD just over 15 years ago when the Liberal government of the day, fearful of the weaponization of space under the George W. Bush administration"

Yes, the liberals got their titties in an uproar. That evil Bush. China is weaponizing space and where are the God DAMNED liberals now?
