It's tax time in Canada, and I am preparing all of my paperwork. Will be seeing my accountant tomorrow afternoon, so blogging will return to normal after that..

I'm not sure how Canada works but those in the US who are business owners or top managers who plan properly do not get refunds. To get a refund means the government used your money interest free all year.
As an employee, one is somewhat at the mercy of the withholding tables and the employer. As an owner or top level manager, you have more control and I would generally view getting a refund to be poor tax planning!! The operative word here is generally because some people have psychological trouble with owing the IRS and as a Certified Public Accountant who works with allot of people I understand this.
