RFE: Iran Says 60 Percent Enrichment 'Under Way' At Natanz Site
Iranian officials say the country has begun enriching uranium up to 60 percent purity, higher than it has ever done before, despite ongoing talks between Tehran and world powers to revive the 2015 nuclear deal.
State television quoted parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf as saying that Iranian scientists had successfully started enriching 60 percent uranium after midnight local time on April 16.

Iran wants to milk every last bit of threatening leverage before coming to "negotiate". Enrichment percentages are just one point...91%! 92%! 99.6%!! It's largely arbitrary and doesn't necessarily change anything. A critical mass can be achieved with less than 90% (AKA "weapons grade" enrichment)...higher levels make it much easier, but basic enrichment is the challenging part of the process and Iran has mastered that already. They've also enriched waaaaay beyond what is necessary for use in power plants so it's all jockeying.
