NBC: Blinken visits Afghanistan after Biden announces U.S. troop withdrawal
Some observers and critics worry that the U.S. withdrawal not only imperils counterterrorism efforts, but that it also endangers Afghanistan's fragile democracy.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken landed in Afghanistan on Thursday for a surprise visit less than 24 hours after President Joe Biden announced the full withdrawal of U.S. forces from the country by Sept. 11.
While in Kabul, Blinken met with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah, chairman of the country's High Council for National Reconciliation, as well as prominent members of Afghan society.
"I wanted to demonstrate with my visit the ongoing commitment of the United States to the Islamic Republic and the people of Afghanistan," Blinken said as he met Ghani in Kabul. "The partnership is changing, but the partnership is enduring."

When Trump said we were pulling out, that was ok. When Biden says it: we are abandoning them
Obama wanted to leave after 2010. Obama had a winning hand. He threw it away. When Trump become president , we had been in Afghanistan for almost 16 years. At some point the Afghan government needs to be able to take and hold ground with back up by ground troops sometimes or with air support many times. The Afghan government has not demonstrated it.
Trump ran on withdrawal. Joe Biden ran against it. There is a great part of the difference.
1) As we are fighting against the Taliban, but not our enemy Pakistan, how can we win?
2) If in a war with China, how do we get our troops pout of Pakistan sides with China? Answer that. You cannot.
Note when we pulled out of South Vietnam, the South Vietnamese stopped a balls out North Vietnamese full scale conventional assault in 1972. Nixon was president. What they need was American air power. They go it.
Point is that South Vietnamese were able to stand on their own feet with American help but without combat units on the ground. Can the Afghan government say the same?
In 1975 with a caretaker president and a Demofuck (you in the ass) Congress, the North Vietnamese launched a second full scale balls out assault. What did those Democrap congress devils give the South Vietnamese? An anchor?
