Five Eyes: Is The Five Eyes Alliance In Trouble Over China?

The Five Eyes group has successfully shared intelligence between Western powers for decades

BBC: Five Eyes: Is the alliance in trouble over China?

The Five Eyes alliance is an intelligence-sharing arrangement between five English-speaking democracies: the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

It evolved during the Cold War as a mechanism for monitoring the Soviet Union and sharing classified intelligence. It is often described as the world's most successful intelligence alliance. But recently it has suffered an embarrassing setback.

Four of the members have jointly condemned China's treatment of its Uyghur population in Xinjiang province. They have also expressed concern over China's de facto military takeover of the South China Sea, its suppression of democracy in Hong Kong and its threatening moves towards Taiwan, which China has vowed to "take back" by 2049.

One country, though, has opted out of confronting China: New Zealand.

WNU Editor: New Zealand wants it both ways. It wants to be a part of the Five Eyes alliance, but it does not want to condemn China for its human rights violations.

New Zealand has a history of being the weakest link in the English speaking alliance. During the Cols War New Zealand refused port entry to US Navy ships because the USA refused to say if the ships had nukes.

New Zealand is unimportant although their lamb is quite nice. Only around 35 people live there happily with around 400 million sheep. The Aussies will sort the NZs out if they try to attempt world domination. Keep ducking 🙉

There was a 'motion' of sorts to call out China yesterday in the New Zealand Parliament.
In truth, this is just about keeping China onside until newer export markets are found in order to lessen dependence on them.
The government made a call last week to help NZ businesses develop new markets.
Everyone in NZ knows China is committing genocide.
Last week the Chinese Embassy attempted a press conference to illustrate how the people in Xinjiang were 'really really happy'.
It failed miserably.
It was roundly laughed at in the media. Amateur hour by the Ambassador.
We're playing the medium-term game until we need them no longer. In the meantime, Five Eyes with NZ as a member continues.

Kick them the F out and open an application process for their replacement.

If there is one thing china had been successful is to get in the heads of everybody first, rather than what is real.

NZ is previous wars has gone above and beyound, their entire division where among the elite. Best of the best, infact rumour is they played a pivotal role in Hilters first land defeat. Where NZ fails is at home, with an indigious population who derive their wealth power and influence by condeming their own people and blaming everyone else. That is were NZ is weakest, at the top, because so many countires have invest interests in the country that anyone of worth is quickly taking out of contention. Like stated above with Australia, and as for five eyes, NZ is the only country of the alliance who doesn't have a mandate for their intelligence agencies to hire citizens, so all the worlds regets can go to NZ and get an intelligence job again pushing out those citizens better suited to lead. Truth is, China and NZ have deep connections through tourisum, buying residency and investment that NZ so desperately wants and they do it at great cost to themselves. Its amazing a country that exports meat, milk and wood needs so much foreign investment to do anything. But then again it was a British Island and maybe they never learnt how to stop sending tributes in terms of wealth. End of the day, NZ will always best the worst state of Austrilia until Austrilians can no longer freely travel to NZ, its NZ's allies that have made the country so weak, so dependant and so exploitable for the Chinese simple because NZ has some the biggest players in the world who dominate the world stage. Question is, will its allies respect its decision to be nuclear free or will they keep undermining the country, extracting its wealth and making it reliant on countries like China and Austrilia. NZ is a country that needs its independance more now then ever, its needs to be left alone to devlop to build and to contribute before its swallowed up by the growing dominate force in the region.
