The Taliban is enforcing its harsh interpretation of Islamic rule and reverting to its fundamental roots as it makes huge advances across Afghanistan.
Insurgents are issuing new orders to captured territories, banning smoking and beard-shaving and ordering villagers to marry off their daughters to foot soldiers and stopping women from heading out alone.

"Shaving or smoking is outlawed and women are banned from leaving the house"
AKA the shariah law that has governed 50% of the country for the past two decades now governs 70% of the country.
Sucks for the people living in the urbanized areas where they "get to smoke" but I'm not exactly looking to lose any more children to defend that right for them. I'd be more supportive of deploying troops to American cities with oppressive anti-smoking billboards and TV commercials in order to defend our "right to smoke".
Expect an endless torrent of sob stories about girls schooling, smoking, etc as the corporate media suddenly finds it's conscience in regards to the Afghanistan withdrawal. Don't however, expect it to be extended to our regional allies that restrict the same rights.
