Experts Are Warning Of A 'Foreign Policy Disaster' As U.S. Forces Rush Out Of Afghanistan

FOX News: Taliban surges as Biden pulls US troops out of Afghanistan, with experts warning of 'foreign policy disaster'

President Biden's plan is to fully withdraw by Sept. 11 Taliban forces are gaining momentum, pushing the Afghanistan government's forces out of several districts and taking control of various weapons and military vehicles in the process, while the U.S. withdraws from the country.

Insurgents have taken 900 guns, 70 sniper rifles, and 65 vehicles, Sky News reported. While this happens, the Afghanistan government continues to lose territory, having already left seven districts as the Taliban assumes control.

WNU Editor: This is looking more and more hollow with each passing day .... Biden promises Afghan leaders 'we're going to stick with you' as US pulls troops out (CNN).

President Biden said last week that he was going to address the deteriorating situation in Afghanistan this week .... President Biden Bristles At Press Questions On Afghanistan. Says He Wants To Talk About Happy Things (July 2, 2021). If he keeps his word and publicly addresses the crisis in Afghanistan this week, that will tell me that the administration is on top of the situation, and are examining options.

If he does not show up and/or does but only says platitudes, that will tell me that they have no idea on what to do, and are effectively abandoning the the Afghan government and its people.

I have seen many foreign policy disasters in my lifetime. But this one is on course to become a public relations disaster, a physical security disaster, and a foreign policy disaster of epic proportions.

"On top of the situation"...any situation...considering what he has appointed to help him run the country there is no top. Just voids.
As for the surrounding countries many wanted us out to begin with, I think.
An investment that should have ended many years ago when we got the perp in "ally" Pakistan's back yard. An elimination that might have occurred early on but for the timid and unimaginative 4 star running the show at Tora Bora.
If it weren't for us we'd be a success.

Foreign policy disaster? Leaving a financial and personnel black hole that has been run on the same failures in understanding that have plagued troops for centuries?
Disagree, boss.

The policy was implemented back in 2007 (or earlier). We are merely seeing long overdue denouement.

Bush II, The Idiot, did the right thing in the early months of the Afghan battle, he erred when he turned it into a war. Anybody with a day of world history would know to not wage war over Afghanistan. But Bush II, The Idiot, didn't pay attention to his college years at the Ivy's.

Once the Taliban were run out in 2001, he should have called it a day and brought everyone home. ObL was a task for the long term.

Needless to say Obama, The Corrupt, did nothing to improve the Afghan stalemate and continued the same stupid policies of Bush II, The Idiot.

The Russians nearly won in Afghanistan. If a few people in the US had not ramped up the war on the 1980s or if they had been a year slower, Russia would have won.

Alexander won in Afghanistan. The successor Seleucid Empire and its successor in the region the Bactrian Kingdoms last hundreds of years in Afghanistan.

Hazaristan is proof that the Mongols conquered Afghanistan.

Running into Afghanistan smashing and leaving would have had liberals impeaching George Bush or worse and they would have been led by Pottery Barn Colin Powell.

I blame Cheney for the Kunduz airlift. Jackasses was airlifted to safety in Pakistan to form a cadre for counterattack. On the flip side I do not know how the Pakistanis threatened Cheney. To guess I would say they threatened supply lines.

Where Bush made his biggest mistake is not clearing FATA of Taliban. Pakistan made an attempt or pretended to. As has been stated here by others, the US should have least shut down all visas for businessmen, students and others to go from Pakistan to the US. It is probably our easiest and best leverage.

And of course the were the KKK DemoKKKrats who wanted war taxes and every social program under the sun for any modicum support for the war.

An endless military occupation is a foreign policy disaster. This is simply the return to normal for Afghanistan.

Do not read to much into this, it is not as bad as the media and the Taliban want you to believe.
