Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed Moscow's readiness to provide Tajikistan with the necessary support
MOSCOW, July 5. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has discussed the situation on the Tajik-Afghan border with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon, the Kremlin stated on Monday. "
[The two presidents] discussed in detail the complicated situation on the Tajik-Afghan border, which was triggered by an escalation of armed confrontation in Afghanistan, including in the border area," the statement said.
In the phone call, Putin confirmed Moscow’s readiness to "provide Tajikistan with the necessary support - both on a bilateral basis and within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO)."

There is also a growing consensus among Russian "experts" that the US and its allies will be facing a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Taliban in the coming months/year .... Taliban’s intensified attacks suggest humiliating US defeat in Afghanistan — expert (TASS).
They are also expecting a massive flood of refugees should the Kabul government fall.
As to what is my prediction?
I expect Russia will be deploying a large contingent of military forces to the Tajik - Afghan border in the next few months (if not sooner). I also expect Russian military forces will be deployed to Tajikistan and Turkmenistan since they also share a border with Afghanistan.

The United States Just Closed Its Last Base in Central Asia
Putin and his ilk had a lot to do with the closing of these bases. So, if the Russians are upset about the the Afghan mess, they can blame themselves.
The transit centers in Central Asia gave the US leverage against the Pakistanis shutting down the supply routes through their country.
Putin made sure the US lost that leverage and made the US beholden to a lesser power, which although lesser had asymmetric advantages.
Pakistan shutdown the Supply routes through Pakistan at least twice.
Sounds like Russia is getting prepared for the inevitable. Good on them.
The US is defending chinas oil supply in the Middle East and Russia’s and China’s interests in Afghanistan.
The least the US can do is let them pick up our tab in Afghanistan.
