Foreign minister accuses Lukashenko of trying to ‘weaponize’ migration.
Lithuania declared a state of emergency on Friday after 150 illegal migrants crossed into the country from neighboring Belarus.
The Lithuanian government has accused Belarusian strongman Alexander Lukashenko of trying to destabilize the country in retaliation for its support of EU sanctions and for the Belarusian opposition movement, which has been protesting since a fraudulent presidential election last August.

WNU Editor: This is just the beginning. Yesterday, Belarusian President Lukashenko introduced a visa-free regime up to 5 days for citizens of 73 countries. Many of them from countries that are facing turmoil. And then there is the collapse of Afghanistan where I expect millions will be fleeing that country as the civil war expands. What better way to flee to Europe than by traveling through central Asia, Russia, and Belarus.
In the last 24 hours, Belarus has smuggled another 150 migrants into Lithuania – an all-time daily record. That’s more than in 2019 and 2020 combined. Being appalled, disgusted or amused does not cover it. Not really amused watching the Belarus election from afar, because the US is just as fucked up.
Is Belarus less fucked up than the USA? We have people in solitary confinement since the beginning of the year for trespassing. I came to the conclusion in the last 24 hours that I would rather have The Shaman than most of the 535 member of Congress. Yes, he s a little bit nuts, but 2 years with him as a representative would be better than half the people in Congress now.
They have tape of him telling people to be peaceful. Why hasn't he been find 350 to0 1m000 d9olalrs, given 200 dollars community service and told the next time will be harsher and let go? If there is a Civil War again, caused by Democrats again, one of the reasons will be how they treat people.
Back to Belarus. The purpose of the visa free regime is not to encourage tourists, who will drop a lot of money seeing historic sites.
The purpose is war. It is hybrid war. Masses of refugees can put a strain social services and break them. It can cause a breakdown in law enforcement and civil order. A country without a safety net, functioning police or civil order, is a country that cannot defend itself.
Putin is involved in this too. Dollars to donuts Putin made the fiscal lifeline he threw Lukashenko contingent on him doing his part in hybrid warfare.
What is going to happen Merkel and Macron will tell Lithuania to quit complaining and suck it up. They will say it is bad, but it is not that bad. The EU principals are usually more than a day late and a euro short in dealing with a problem.
You can have all the war games in the world promising to protect the Baltic states and mean it militarily and it is all for naught, if the slow learned of the EU allow this hybrid warfare gambit/scam.
