RFE: Putin Oversees Crowded Russian Naval Parade Despite Pandemic 

President Vladimir Putin praised Russia's naval capabilities during a large warship parade in the port city of St. Petersburg, which drew throngs of spectators despite high infection rates and record deaths from the coronavirus. 

"The Russian Navy today has everything it needs to guarantee the protection of our country and our national interests," Putin said on July 25 on the sidelines of the annual parade of navy vessels. "We can detect underwater, surface, or aerial enemies and target them if a lethal strike is necessary," Putin said.
