Washington (CNN)The top US military officer, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Mark Milley, was so shaken that then-President Donald Trump and his allies might attempt a coup or take other dangerous or illegal measures after the November election that Milley and other top officials informally planned for different ways to stop Trump, according to excerpts of an upcoming book obtained by CNN.
The book, from Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington Post reporters Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker, describes how Milley and the other Joint Chiefs discussed a plan to resign, one-by-one, rather than carry out orders from Trump that they considered to be illegal, dangerous or ill-advised. "It was a kind of Saturday Night Massacre in reverse," Leonnig and Rucker write.
The book, "I Alone Can Fix It," scheduled to be released next Tuesday, chronicles Trump's final year as president, with a behind-the-scenes look at how senior administration officials and Trump's inner circle navigated his increasingly unhinged behavior after losing the 2020 election. The authors interviewed Trump for more than two hours.

WNU Editor: No wonder the Pentagon is so screwed up from making poor procurement and policy decisions to losing conflicts like the war in Afghanistan. The leadership is more focused on politics and influencing Washington than winning wars, and they are no longer hiding their political prejudices and biases.
Case in point. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Mark Milley calling President Trump a Nazi (if that Washington Post allegation is true) is outrageous .... Top US general said Trump spread 'gospel of the Führer' and threatened US democracy with 2020 election lies: new book (Business Insider). Add in recent remarks made by Gen. Milley on his support for teaching racist ideologies like "critical race theory" to young officers .... sighhhh .... all of this tells me volumes on where the Pentagon's mindset is right now.
And while Democrats, the media, never-Trumpers, and progressives are applauding this book and accepting its conclusions. To say that this telegraphs a dangerous message to America's adversaries in the world is an understatement.
The political and military leadership in countries like Russia and China are going to read this book. And they will see what I see. A military that has become a dysfunctional organization, focused on developing a wolk culture, and lead by a very weak President.
And you can take this to the bank. The leadership in these countries are going to take advantage of this situation in the next 3 years, especially China.

Milley has been in Panama, Bosnia and Haiti before 2001. By the time of Panama, he was already a major. Name a firefight that Milley has been in?
By the time an officer is an O6 they know have to be political. O6s know to make O7, you cannot piss off any Congress Critter. You have to keep 535 critters happy or at least not mad at you. It is why, when Rep. Hank Johnson asked in Guam would tip over, the admiral cannot say that is the dumbest thing he has heard. Not only would a congress person put a hold next time he was in zone, but they congress critter might put a hold on any of his or her proteges. They might go after all officer promotions. They have done it before. The Critter won't have to explain, they won't be impeached or censured, and the MSM won't write exposes on the critter.
Maybe a person could research and see the rot can be found as far back as Wesley Clark in Bosnia or his presidential run? Other than Clark had the gumption to run and the press blew a little smoke up his ass, what made Clark stand out as being head and shoulders above the rest? What made him believe he could make it? Almost starting WW3 in the Balkans?
In the 50s we had The Revolt of the Admirals, Did anyone complain or threaten to resign and go public, when Les (why was he SecDef) Aspin refused to allow the military tanks in Somalia, because t would look too military or warlike. The Pakistanis could have tanks but not the US for reasons ...
If the Americans had had tanks a lot fewer Americans, Somalis and others would have died. But the generals did not revolt.
Gestapo. More truth then sarcasm.

Fake usa freedom
10 years ago I would never think WNU would trust the US military to defend Americas constitution less than someone like Trump.
It would be funny if it was not so revealing and disappointing.
Then you have the August=Augustus people. Trump has made everything a reality TV show.
