WHO Officials Now Believe The Covid Pandemic Will Only Be Under Control Next Year

CNBC: WHO officials say we could have Covid under control next year ‘if we’re really lucky’

* Even as the delta variant rapidly spreads across the globe, WHO officials are still optimistic world leaders could get the pandemic under control next year.

* The pandemic could end sooner if countries ensure the vaccines are distributed equitably to poorer nations.

* “The delta variant will not be the last variant of concern you hear us talking about,” said Maria Van Kerkhove, WHO’s Covid-19 technical lead.

The world could have control over Covid-19 by next year “if we’re really lucky,” World Health Organization officials said Monday.

Even as the delta variant rapidly spreads across the globe, WHO officials are still optimistic world leaders could get the pandemic under control next year.

“I’d love to say it will end this year but I really don’t think so,” Dr. Mike Ryan, executive director of WHO’s health emergencies program. “If we’re really lucky, we’ll have it under control next year.”

On Tuesday, the Cape Cod Times reported that Linda Zuern, a former member of the Bourne, Massachusetts Board of Selectmen and a Trump-supporting figure in the local Republican Party, had died of COVID-19.

Zuern died at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston of severe complications caused by COVID-19, according to the report. She was 70 years old and had not been vaccinated.

"She was a strong woman who believed in speaking the truth and defending our freedoms in America," Republican State Committeewoman Deborah Dugan told the Cape Cod Times. Dugan was at Zuern's bedside when she died. "I would describe her to people as a little woman but a mighty warrior."

For months, Zuern, a member of the pro-Trump group the United Cape Patriots, had promoted conspiracy theories about the pandemic on Facebook. She has shared articles accusing the World Health Organization of a coverup of the "Wuhan Virus" and claiming COVID-19 is cover for "globalists" to usher in "U.N. Agenda 2030" — a sustainable development initiative right-wing conspiracy theorists assert is a plot to create a one world government.

Zuern also expressed support for the QAnon conspiracy theory, posting their creed of "WWG1WGA" (Where We Go One, We Go All).

Zuern promoted the use of hydroxychloroquine as a treatment of COVID-19 during a Barnstable County Assembly of Delegates meeting in December and questioned whether officials "had looked into preventative measures that people could use besides a vaccine to help build up their immune system," the Cape Cod Times reported.

Peter Meier, chair of the Board of Selectmen, said Zuern cared deeply about others. "She definitely left her mark on the community," he added.

According to the report, Zuern and her mother contracted COVID-19 while returning home from a trip to South Dakota — a state where Republican-motivated policies have let the virus propagate with little control.

All cap and novel did a copy and paste job at 3:33. For smoe reason a language major cannot find their own words. Almost like they are deaf, dumb and mute.

In what states, nations, places do we see the best resistance to the virus?

What have they done or are doing in those places?
social distancing; masks, fully vaccinated

draw some conclusions

(and now stalker, tell me I have copied and pasted. Nope. Now make your usual stupid boilerplate remark

WNU there's no 'surprise' with these mutations. That's typical to the Corona family, that's why it's such a popular virus for both, drug makers and weapons makers(and you'd be surprised about the overlap between the two if you draw a venn diagram)

Anyhow.
The surprising bit is that people haven't caught on to the scam. WNU clearly shows his Russian troll side here.. no one but the dumbest have caught on to the PCR testing scandal explained here multiple times previously and reported throughout the scientific community for more than a year, and ignored by the media because their business model is pharma ads and panic, among lies and deception.

Wnu... bad move... you should read up, there's no excuse

As usual All hat and no cattle is wrong. First, you give anecdotal evidence and try to draw some biblical like moral from it. You are a very religious person. Zuern was 70 years old. What are the chances she had a pre-existing condition?

"After her father died last year Zuern went to visit her mother in South Dakota. On their return trip to Bourne, both her mother and herself contracted COVID-19. Her mother survived the disease. "

If she caught the disease sometime in 2020, it took over 6 months to kill her. I know that, because I can count unlike some people. I suspect there were comorbidities. She might have had diabetes, high blood pressure or some other pre-existing condition.

Myself, I visited Mitchel, South Dakota last year. You should visit it and get some cultural awareness. But it would all be wasted on you. What are the chances the superman of great DNA would travel to see a mural made of corn cobs? I think they are very, very low.

I was also surprised with the work by the Kiwanis club with dozers. I did not think such a thing possible. Maybe you will claim the Kiwanis are socialist , because it entailed a group effort. You usually do. For an English major, the dictionary seems to be foreign to you. Very odd.

I have a relative who is getting on and they have not been vaccinated. They intend to get a shot before having to return to work. They want more time to see which shot has the less complications between Moderna, Pfizer and J&J.

Which reminds me, you were the prick who were talking out you ass, both of them, about how red states were unvaccinated. Well since you and other socialist assholes harped on it, people are tracking down the stats.

30% o f illegal aliens are refusing the shot, but they are let into the US and bussed all around the nation. You are responsible for it. You voted for the demented one. How do you plead?

As minority vaccination rates lag, Denver prepares messaging campaign targeting immigrants, refugees ... officials in Colorado and across the country have talked up the need to improve vaccine confidence and trust in minority communities

"Black Americans’ covid-19 vaccination rates are still lagging months into the nation’s campaign" - KHN.org

But be the asshole we all know you are. Keep harping about red states and ignore vax rates of blacks and other minorities. We all know you cannot slice and dice statistics or drill down and ask why 5 times.

All you can do is mewl like a kitten about how newspapers give you state rates and you are good with it.

getting on but still working? the elderly are top of the list for the shots
I am talking about those who get the shots and those who do not. Many blacks, and Hispanics do not get the shots. I look at the big picture: Red states are suffering much more than Blue states; rural more than urban. Deny that!

"Many blacks, and Hispanics do not get the shots. " That is a fatuous statement May minorities can get shots and still be below 50% vax rate. But writing that statement made you feel good.

If you cannot do stats, you cannot see big picture.

"Red states are suffering much more than Blue states; rural more than urban. Deny that!"

I do deny that most of the population of red or blue states live in the capital city or other metro area and not farms or small towns. Back what 60 years ago people were point out that famers went from 90% of the population in about 1900 to about 2% in 1960 to 1980.

If 2% of the nation is the farm sectors just how rural can any state be? Why would a person have a 1950s or 1940s view of the US in 2021?

"States with Republican governors — many of whom began reopening last year and are rejecting President Joe Biden‘s enhanced unemployment bonuses — are leading this nation’s economic recovery.

Seventeen of the top 20 states for jobs recovered from the coronavirus pandemic are led by the GOP, with the top 12 all run by Republican governors, according to newly released data from the Labor Department. Two red states, Idaho and Utah, have more jobs now than they did pre-pandemic."
