Why Has Cuba Exploded In Protests?

NBC: Why has Cuba exploded in protests? It goes beyond the U.S. embargo and the pandemic

Analysis: Cuba has been promising economic reforms for years that have not materialized. “People don’t have hope in getting out of the crisis,” said an economist.

Although she did not take part in the historic protests that rocked the entire island of Cuba on Sunday, Caridad Montes, 50, says she understands why they took place. “It’s very simple," said Montes, a Havana resident.

"They are tired of the hardships and want changes for the better." Cuba has been grappling with acute shortages of food and medicine throughout the pandemic.

People make lines for blocks to buy whatever they can find at stores. Inflation and blackouts during the tropical summer heat have aggravated the situation.

WNU Editor: According to NBC the reasons why Cubans are protesting are the following. (1) The failure of economic reforms. (2) The impact of US sanctions. (3) The impact of the pandemic. (4) The failure of the Cuban government to provide basic services like electricity, healthcare, and water. (5) Broken promises.

But NBC omits the main reason why Cubans are on the streets even though they are shouting it out in most of the videos that have been posted since Sunday.

See the above video. They are shouting "libertad" .... freedom! They want the end of the dictatorship, and the end of the control that the government has over their lives.

I expected more street protests in the US. We are not at the hottest month yet, but maybe there is a reason. Most protests are planned, funded and instigated. However, Democrat politicians are are feeling pressure. Their utopia, Cuba, is experiencing protests. It makes the Castros look bad, communism look bad and liberals, who profess admiration for Communist Cuba look bad.

Now Democrats are going for a full court press.

Secretary of State Blinken Calls for UN Special Rapporteur on Contemporary Racism to Visit the U.S.

Blinken is going Merrick Garland on the American people. The dude is off the chain! I though Blinken was merely an utopian, incompetent idiot. I was wrong. He is evil.

PS The South African riots are actually unsettling. If there are many protest in many countries at the same , it makes one wonder if there will be a major war due to accident, miscalculation or as a way of solving domestic problems. South African riots are unsettling, because South Africa sin one of the stable rocks. Ethiopian stability just took a shit. Nigeria should be bustling, but have not heard news from it.

The kinder in the Biden administration might get some results leaning on Saudi Arabia to help Iran, but it is not going to last until the next election. Team D is in charge and everything is going to shite.

Well of course NBC lies. Always has, always will.

And look at what they omit.
The tyranny.

What else?

People rising up against tyranny and killing the tyrants.

Of course NBC,cnn and the Democrats don't want you to know.. you might get ideas about THEM next

Anon @100
Don't you get it?
The election is over. The Democrats used the terror in the streets to corrupt the courts and get their "votes"
There's no need for terror now, that comes perhaps during the next election cycle, depending on the needs of the state party some white people's heads might need bashing in on TV so they shut up about the takeover

One of my sisters went to Cuba after it opened up to tourism. Like her tour of Egypt she said she would never go back.

I hope the majority of these commentators do not represent the general viewership of WNU. There is no effort to think critically; only tribalism that permeates every word. That portends ongoing crisis in the U.S. that's far more serious than the Cuban situation.

Which comments do you object to Daughter of the American Revolution?

Riots are bought and paid for.

All 6 RINO-ish or something else DAR posts.

To WNU Editor: Your pro-Trump tendencies have become clear. Maybe it's due to your background. Trump to you is no tyrant compared to what you've personally experienced. You don't see his gross incompetence. You don't see that Trump's incessant lying makes him utterly untrustworthy. To you constitutions are worthless. But Hundreds of Thousands of Americans have died for that piece of parchment. A Nation of Law, not of tyrants.

Is this Bolton's version of Intel? Certainly it is. Why pay the high costs of an unprovoked incursion when you can simply keep applying pressure? Taiwan can only be defended by a security agreement that includes a nuclear shield. And there is NO such shield. Taiwan inevitably will in incremental steps give up governance to China in a deal that allows them to keep a separate socioeconomic system.

Dear WNU Editor:

This impeachment may in particular be difficult for someone born and educated in the former Soviet Bloc. Where what occurred was\is no big deal. It's just everyday political business reality; "You" badly need something to prevent your possible demise... "You" know I look rather fondly on your, er, adversary. "Though" I might consider... I want dirt on a family you have been... acquainted with. I don't care if it's real or not as long as it's plausible. I've been soooo good to you. Right? Yes?"

You see, WNU, you see no harm in that. Many don't. But the point was that Russian tanks would have become far less vulnerable to Russian or Russian-backed assault should Trump have held the aid. I'm not at all sure Trump would have objected to Russia moving to the Western Ukraine border. NATO would. Would Trump support NATO in a counter-attack against superior Russian forces?

It's unlikely Trump will be removed, true. But Trump must face consequences. Or government of the people, by the people, and for the people is doomed to fail.

A brazen move by Khamenei to move Soleimani from relative protection in Syria by flight direct to Baghdad's Airport. Obviously a security leak pretty high up. No secret why Soleimani went to Baghdad; to stir-up more unrest and perhaps see that Iran-backed demonstrators had small arms, rpg's, and mortar support. Instead a circling Predator was videoing Soleimani's landing back to the USA. Khamanei made the bad mistake, and the Iranians know it. Iraqi civilians will pay.

Agree. About the only difference is a socioeconomic one; Vietnam has a rapidly growing middle class. People who might sell-out political/governmental influence in a deal to keep their gains in quality of life. China is working the same angle on Taiwan.

The Europeans with enough financial strength are forced to milatarize. Enough of their publics understand Putin's strength--and natural gas stranglehold. They realize the USA is isolating; Trump possibly is dividing up spheres of influence. France still has a nuke deterent, so France is the key. Germany has allowed their armed forces to decay, as has Great Britain. All 3 will have to sacrifice social programs to advance defense. Trump supporters love the situation. Would Trump "give" Putin the Baltic States in exchange for some assurity? That's a situation Western Europe would rather avoid.

Yeah, Trump would sell the Baltics out because he want to follow in Neville's footstep so something.

Well the May 15, 2019 comment did not age well. What did you Hong Kongese friends tell you. Oh Wait, they are rather incommunicado right now.

Your pro Romney, pro-Flake tendencies have become clear.
