* The singer and actress will perform the song 'Lift Every Voice and Sing' while hosting PBS's 41st 'A Capitol Fourth' annual celebration, which airs Sunday
* The song was first written as a poem in 1900 by NAACP leader James Weldon Johnson and has long held the nickname as the 'Black National Anthem'
* Williams said her performance of the song will not only honor the nation's traditional Independence Day, but also Juneteenth
* The song is not replacing the US National Anthem, with singer Renée Fleming opening the show with a special performance of the 'Star-Spangled Banner'
* Several other singers and musicians will also be performing different songs
* The inclusion of the 'Black National Anthem' sparked controversy on Twitter
* Some called it 'divisive' and a contradiction of efforts to create 'unity'
PBS has divided opinion with its decision to have Vanessa Williams sing the 'Black National Anthem' during its July 4 celebration, in a nod to Juneteenth being made a federal holiday.
The singer and actress, who was the first black woman to be crowned Miss America, will perform the song 'Lift Every Voice and Sing' while hosting PBS's 41st 'A Capitol Fourth' annual celebration, which airs Sunday.

WNU Editor: I am not sure about this. It is like playing the Quebec national anthem (it is an anthem embraced by those who support independence) after playing O' Canada on Canada Day.
Nah .... this PBS decision is anything but unity.
But like Quebec where I live and where many do not favor Canada Day, I acknowledge that there are many in the U.S. who have a different view of July 4 .... Ex—MSNBC Host Slams July 4th: 'It Wasn't Independence Day For Black People' (Newsweek).

Vanessa Williams was not black enough for the race mongers and race hustlers. She is very light complected and has blue eyes. The Industrial Race Complex gave her no help in the 1980s or 1990s. Not true. Why did she meet Ramon Hervey II? Her career went no where.
But now she is revived, so long as she supports all the right causes.
Songs do not unite nor do they disunite
The gop and trump split the nation in the split begun with newt and his just say no to any and all policies from the dems
There is no question that Fred is wrong a majority of the time.
Ob’s stürmt oder schneit,
Ob die Sonne uns lacht,
Der Tag glühend heiß
Oder eiskalt die Nacht,
Bestaubt sind die Gesichter,
Doch froh ist unser Sinn,
Ja unser Sinn.
Es braust unser Panzer
Im Sturmwind dahin.
Mit donnernden Motoren,
Geschwind wie der Blitz,
Dem Feinde entgegen,
Im Panzer geschützt.
Voraus den Kameraden,
Im Kampf steh’n wir allein,
Steh’n wir allein,
So stoßen wir tief
In die feindlichen Reihn.
Wenn vor uns ein feindliches
Heer dann erscheint,
Wird Vollgas gegeben
Und ran an den Feind!
Was gilt denn unser Leben
Für unsres Reiches Heer?
Ja Reiches Heer
Für Deutschland zu sterben
Ist uns höchste Ehr.
Mit Sperren und Minen
Hält der Gegner uns auf,
Wir lachen darüber
Und fahren nicht drauf.
Und droh’n vor uns Geschütze,
Versteckt im gelben Sand,
Im gelben Sand,
Wir suchen uns Wege,
Die keiner sonst fand.
Und läßt uns im Stich
Einst das treulose Glück,
Und kehren wir nicht mehr
Zur Heimat zurück,
Trifft uns die Todeskugel,
Ruft uns das Schicksal ab,
Ja Schicksal ab,
Dann wird uns der Panzer
Ein ehernes Grab.
Westerwald
[Strophe 1]
Heute wollen wir marschier'n!
Einen neuen Marsch probier'n
In dem schönen Westerwald!
Ai, da pfeift der Wind so kalt!
[Refrain]
Oh, Du schöner Westerwald! (Eukalyptusbonbon!)
Über Deine Höhen pfeift der Wind so kalt!
Jedoch der kleinste Sonnenschein
Dringt tief ins Herz hinein!
Oh, Du schöner Westerwald! (Eukalyptusbonbon!)
Über Deine Höhen pfeift der Wind so kalt!
Jedoch der kleinste Sonnenschein
Dringt tief ins Herz hinein!
[Strophe 2]
Und die Gretel und der Hans
Gehn am Sonntags gern zum Tanz!
Weil das Tanzen Freude macht
Und das Herz im Leibe lacht!
[Refrain]
Oh, Du schöner Westerwald! (Eukalyptusbonbon!)
Über Deine Höhen pfeift der Wind so kalt!
Jedoch der kleinste Sonnenschein
Dringt tief ins Herz hinein!
Oh, Du schöner Westerwald! (Eukalyptusbonbon!)
Über Deine Höhen pfeift der Wind so kalt!
Jedoch der kleinste Sonnenschein
Dringt tief ins Herz hinein!
[Strophe 3]
Ist das Tanzen dann vorbei?
Gibt's gewöhnlich Keilerei
Und von Bursch, den das nicht freut
Sagt man der hat kein' Schneid!
[Refrain]
Oh, Du schöner Westerwald! (Eukalyptusbonbon!)
Über Deine Höhen pfeift der Wind so kalt!
Jedoch der kleinste Sonnenschein
Dringt tief ins Herz hinein!
Oh, Du schöner Westerwald! (Eukalyptusbonbon!)
Über Deine Höhen pfeift der Wind so kalt!
Jedoch der kleinste Sonnenschein
Dringt tief ins Herz hinein!
The infamous "Kill the Boer" song (1990)
They still sing the song.
Nobel Peace Prize winners sing the song.

This is really a lousy idea. July 4th is an American holiday, not a black, white or anything else holiday.
My spouse is yellow. Will PBS come up with a Yellow national anthem for them?
Pisser never made a rebuttal. Is he taking a napppy nap like Joe?
Marijuana anthem want to hear it
I got it
Shut the fuck up Fred, you classic democrat pro segregation/Jim Crow, pro KKK, Pro slavery, pro pedophilia, Communist, racist, bigoted WNU Troll of a beta cuck man bitch. You are the entirety of the democrat party manifest into one old, soft-shell, gaslighting, degenerate and geriatric white racist. You are a dying nobody with nothing left to offer the world except one last anti American circle jerk.
From the UK and even I can see what the left does
Hate, inc is a great book by Matt Taibi and describes what the business model is, which the left media adopted
They profit of the hate and they use deteriorated souls (and brains), like Fred Lapides, to do their demonic bidding
As long as demons like them are on this earth dividing us all, there will be no unity and no peace
