WNU Editor: In my opinion this is already a hostage crisis.
Americans and America's allies outside of Kabul cannot reach Kabul with the Taliban controlling the highways. Even in Kabul itself people are restricted in their movements.
The Taliban know that they have enormous leverage with the Americans caught that are behind their lines, and they are going to use it.
And while I do not know what the Taliban are precisely going to demand. My gut tells me that they are going to drag this crisis past September 11, and thereby deny President Biden any credit for getting the U.S. out of Afghanistan on the 20th anniversary of the attacks.

It is a given. Americans will have to eat crow for now. American can be like every other group and use real or perceived slights to stoke coals.
So many groups from nonprofits, activists and news media like to civilian death counts, military KIA, or excess deaths. Can they profit from counting the Afghan interpreter, Afghan govt employee of Western civilian death count. If or when they count, it will be later rather than sooner It hurts the cause.
The new spin is that there always were going to be casualties, mass casualties, anyway. It is a self serving lie wrapped around a small truth. No one expects 100%., but percentage matters. Biden is getting lower percentages than almost anyone else could have achieved. The US does have leverage over the Taliban. It is all in what they are prepared to do. Sure the US wants to leave, but it doesn't mean we can't lay waist everything between Kabul and the sea or some such action.
As Sean Connery's character asked in the movie "The Untouchables" "What are you prepared to do?" Apparently, the people, who were "ready on day one", are not prepared to do much.

If this is indeed the trajectory, then this disaster will become a catastrophe that Biden will not survive. My prediction: Hello president Kamala by next January. Can't believe I'm saying that, but at this point I don't see an alternate ending.

Taliban are media savvy and realize to make a spectacular humiliation of the USA, they will have to break thru the media lying about what’s going on in Afghanistan.American Media is covering up any bad news for the American audiences. Taliban will need to shock the media with something despicably evil to get them to cover it.
For instance behead on Twitter 10 Americans. Stone 10 American women.
Perform a marriage ceremony of 100 American women to Taliban fighters.
