Taliban Warn There Will Be Consequences If There Is An Evacuation Extension Pass August 31

Taliban spokesman Dr Suhail Shaheen (pictured) has warned of 'consequences' if Western forces stay beyond the end of the month

Daily Mail: 'There will be consequences': Taliban hits back at Biden and warns US to get out by August 31 or 'provoke a reaction' after President said American forces could stay beyond withdrawal deadline to complete evacuation

* President Joe Biden has set the deadline of August 31 as the cut-off for withdrawing troops from Afghanistan

* Taliban spokesman Dr Suhail Shaheen said they will not allow for an extension and warned of retaliation

* He warned of 'consequences' if both the US and UK cross the 'red line' and delay their exit from the country

* Dr Shaheen also branded it 'fake news' that girls' schools around the country are being closed down

* UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson will call on President Biden to extend the evacuation deadline

 * UK defense secretary Ben Wallace has also warned the evacuation effort is 'down to hours now, not weeks'

The Taliban has delivered a chilling warning to foreign nationals and Afghans scrambling to leave the country, saying there will be 'consequences' if the US does not leave Afghanistan by August 31 and extends a deadline for the withdrawal of troops.

Thousands of Afghans who worked with U.S. military forces remain camped around Kabul airport trying to find safety as the clock ticks down. American nationals are also waiting for their own flights home.

President Joe Biden wants all Americans to be out by the end of the month, in order to meet the troop withdrawal agreement reached with the Taliban, although he admitted on Sunday night that an extension was under discussion, while this morning UK Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said the evacuation effort is 'down to hours now, not weeks'.

The Taliban stopped short of calling Biden a "bitch". That's gotta count for something.

Governments are responsible or keeping general, relatively low levels of violence. by not forming a government , they want to blame the US and avoid culpability. Any Taliban caught dead after shooting at Americans will be alleged to be ISIS.

We need Dracula. The Taliban would pucker up right smartly.

"Consequences?" The US is said by many to have the most powerful military force in the world. This could well be true. It is certainly arguably the most powerful. As such, it can bring things to the fight the Taliban cannot and how many allies will the Taliban have to help them? I'd suspect against a fully energized and angry US not many. I don't think it would be worth it for Russia or China even if they felt so inclined.

Right now the Taliban controls a country with vast rare earth elements. Assuming they can behave like a quasi normal country they will be allowed to keep this indefinitely. Threatening the US with "consequences" at this juncture does not seem wise. As with ISIS in Iraq, they may overreach. Biden would likely take us to war with China, Russia, or both of them at the same time backed up by the leadership class if needed to protect Hunter. As such, he's not going to be humiliated by the Taliban. As they wish to remain in power, I'd expect this to be fully resolved in the favor of team Biden by the end of August in the favor of team Biden.

Of course they made at least two key mistakes. 1.) There doesn't seem to have been a provision in place to get Americans, allies, or those who helped us out on a moment's notice. 2.) Obviously Afghan government forces had everything the needed to confront the Taliban and either wouldn't or couldn't do so which should have been foreseen but as has been said hindsight is 20/20!! As the American people want to be extricated from that fruitless mission a few casualties at the margins will be acceptable as well as harrowing tales of people escaping will be acceptable as well. When all is said and done it will be considered a success for team Biden in getting the overwhelming majority of our people and those who assisted us out. Other than noise, fury, scare tactics and loud threats the Taliban isn't going to want to push the issue. Getting out of Afghanistan will be an issue that will work in the Democrats favor in 2022 and 2024.
