CNN: Biden's national security adviser says ISIS threat against Kabul airport is 'real' and 'acute'
(CNN)National security adviser Jake Sullivan said Sunday that the threat of ISIS against the large mass of Americans and Afghans at the Kabul airport trying to evacuate Afghanistan is "real," adding that the US is placing "paramount priority" on preventing any terrorist attack.
"The threat is real. It's acute. It is persistent. And it is something we're focused on with every tool in our arsenal," Sullivan told CNN's Brianna Keilar on "State of the Union" Sunday.
CNN reported earlier this weekend that the US military is establishing "alternative routes" to the Kabul airport because of a threat the terror group ISIS-K, a self-proclaimed branch of the Islamic State, poses to the airport and its surroundings.

WNU Editor: While watching him this morning I was saying to myself that this crisis is way out of his league. He is the administration's public face on this crisis, and he is not good at it.
Update: President Biden is to address the nation at 16:00 EST.
I am not impressed.
His "updates" on Afghanistan have been inconsistent, out of date, and wrong. He also does not take questions from the press.
People who follow this blog are better informed.

Go away illegitimate government, you're out of control, overstepped all boundaries. Enough already.
Enemies foreign and within.
President Biden, you have my vote in 2024.
Keep up the good work.
Jake's resume is kind of thin. Outside of getting a degrees in poly sci and international relations, it consists of working for politicians and nd 3 or 4 years in the White House.
A Foreign Area Officer (FAO) with one tour would be a better pick than Jake.
and your credentials?

Fred, you (or a copy cat) are back and in fighting trim. Which is to say you suck at logic, rhetoric and philosophy.
During his 90-minute speech in Alabama on Saturday night, former president Donald Trump praised the Taliban and talked up his relationship with them at the same time that President Joe Biden is attempting to conduct the evacuation of Americans out of Afghanistan.
Using the chaos in Afghanistan as a springboard to criticize Biden, the former president called the Taliban "great negotiators" and "tough fighters" before adding, "...with me in office the Taliban would not have ever dreamt of capturing our airfield or parading around with our American weapons."
Critics of Trump were quick to note that his negotiations with the Taliban led to the release of 5,000 of their members which has contributed to the turmoil in the country as the U.S military leaves after a fruitless twenty-year war.
