US President Joe Biden has ordered B-52 bombers and Spectre gunships to target Taliban terrorists in Afghanistan who are advancing towards three key cities.
The Cold War-era strategic bomber first flew in the 1950s but is still used due to its 70,000lb payload and range of more than 8,000 miles.
They are being supported by the AC-130 Spectre gunships which are armed with a 25mm Gatling gun, a 40mm Bofors cannon and a 105mm M102 cannon - which can provide pinpoint accurate fire from the air.

B52 is a strategic and heavy bomber inadequate for tactical fight.
AC-130 is much much better but to little too late.
Maybe this year our strategy will work.
Slow learners, I'd say. This last minute gesture is for show and what little guilt over our abandonment of some Afghans still remains. After 20 years and uncountable amounts of munitions, equipment, and lives nothing changed but the date on the calendar.
Where all these suddenly larger numbers of Talibs were staying all this time is perplexing. Nonetheless they are in the open now so here comes that which didn't work before. In smaller amounts.
Bombing alone cannot stop infiltration. Biden is incompetent person clutching at straws and pissing into the wind. Prove otherwise.
One good thing biden.is doing at least. Doubt it will be enough though.
