Reuters: Exclusive-Afghan central bank drained dollar stockpile before Kabul fell - document
FRANKFURT/MUMBAI (Reuters) - The Afghan central bank ran down most of its U.S. dollar cash reserves in the weeks before the Taliban took control of the country, according to an assessment prepared for Afghanistan's international donors, exacerbating the current economic crisis.
The confidential, two-page brief, written early this month by senior international economic officials for institutions including the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, said the country's severe cash shortage began before the Taliban took control of Kabul.

WNU Editor: Aside from the $9.5 billion that is still frozen by the U.S., that few hundred million that resided at the Afghan Central Bank is definitely gone. That is what happens in a country where the culture of corruption is unfortunately very pervasive.

How is it different than US, Russia, China, Australia, Germany, France, Britain. Canada, etc?
I have always said the US is corrupt. I have said that while some countries are at a 3 on a 10 scale give or take, the US was at a 1 or 2 on the same scale and therefore better.
The total determination to beggar people in the last 2 years, laundering of money thru the Ukraine back to the DC burbs and everything else makes me believe otherwise now.
The US is like Canada. It is clean and orderly compared to other kleptocracies.
The system is amply demonstrated by comparing Kristi Noem's daughter and the Clinton's daughter.
Noem's daughter complete a 2 years program at a community college, completes an internship and then told that she cannot become $50,000 a year appraiser because reasons...
Democrats are appalled because the governor got involved. Let them. I smell a rat. It is the 70 year old who denied the accreditation. With digging there and we will find she is a partisan hack, who denied a 20 somethings accreditation, because of her mother's political party.
Now Clinton's daughter got a 600,000 gig with no prep in the applicable field. Her gig flopped. Not how Chelsea's gig made in 1 year what Kristi Noem's daughter would make in 12 years.
12 to 1. Yet, there is more sturm und drang over the Noems than the Clintons.
I have been tangentially involved in appraisal. So I will dig a little.
The 70 year old paragon of virtue should be able to show the results of an objective exam. This is not over. Why? Because it will come up in 2023 and 2024.
This story will not go away. It will keep sputtering, because the Democrats want blood and they want to dirty up DeSantis and Noem. That is really the impetus for this story.
