WNU Editor: I was never sympathetic on his authoritarian rule of Singapore. But his understanding of geopolitics and specifically Asian politics and geopolitical trends was incredible, and in the case of Afghanistan, proven right 12 years later.

Not a fan of his style either, but in retrospect, as he himself explained, when you are essentially creatubg a new country, a new culture, and a new economy, sometimes you have to bend or even break the rules. The results speak for themselves.
Just don't spit on the sidewalk. I saw what the masses live in in SP. Not nice.
