RT: War with Russia & China would 'destroy world' & America must find ways to make peace with its Eastern rivals, top US general warns

With global nuclear stockpiles growing and countries upgrading their warheads and rockets, there is an almost unprecedented need to de-escalate tensions and avert atomic armageddon, one of America's most senior officers has said.

Speaking at a meeting hosted by Washington think-tank The Brookings Institution on Monday, Vice Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff General John E. Hyten warned of the risks if conflicts spiral out of control, and expressed hope that cooler heads can prevail.

With Russia yes, i agree, but not with China. China hasn't reach that capability yet, they could inflict massive damage yes, but it really depends how long the conflict lasts. I believe China could be quickly and efficently quelled, without drawing in Russia and too many nuclear weapons. The west would just have to be highly effective at shooting down any missile launched by China, its submarines and bombers.

A nuclear conflict is not good for anybody, and I don't think it will happen.

The general is entirely correct, and they have the intelligence and data analysts to do the math. Certainly any of the three countries can shoot down a few incoming nukes, but not a thousand nukes that will come from different directions. Add to that other countries becoming involved right away too, like France and the UK with their arsenals, and North Korea and Iran too, and it must be clear that once a single nuke left a silo, the world will be destroyed within days thereafter.
