U.S. Lawmakers Set To Grill Top U.S. Military Leaders On Afghanistan For The First Time

Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin and Gen. Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff

CNN: Lawmakers set to grill top military leaders on Afghanistan for first time since troop withdrawal

(CNN)Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Mark Milley are set to testify publicly before Senate lawmakers Tuesday, marking the first time that top military officials will appear before Congress since the full withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan.

Austin and Milley will be joined by the leader of US Central Command, Gen. Frank McKenzie, who played an integral role in facilitating the evacuation from Kabul -- an effort that has been the focus of immense bipartisan criticism since the last American military aircraft departed the Afghan capital.

All three officials will undoubtedly face questions about the chaotic nature of the withdrawal, be pressed to explain the Biden administration's plan for conducting counter-terrorism missions in the country going forward and be called upon to answer for the failures that led to a drone strike killing 10 civilians, including seven children, in Kabul during the final days of the evacuation.

Update: Gen. Milley faces his toughest day yet on Capitol Hill (The Hill)

WNU Editor: U.S. lawmakers and the media are all going to be focused on Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Mark Milley, and the leader of US Central Command, Gen. Frank McKenzie.

And there is going to be a lot of tough questions and answers that I am sure will be upsetting to a lot of people.... A U.S. general warned the Taliban to stay out of Kabul or be bombed. The Taliban rolled into Kabul anyway (NBC).

But in reality, all roads lead to President Biden, and he is going to say nothing.

Fred,

The 666 reference is not scary at all, if you know numerology and history. It basically means The Roman Emperor is bad guy, but we cannot call him that by name so we use code i.e. numerology. You probably think Stephen King is a good author. Sad.

Saw a cartoon today. Putin was meeting Biden and Putin is telling Biden that the 1st thing Biden wants tot talk about is access to the nuclear codes, because he was locked out by Russian hackers.

Yes, hack attacks from Russia are still going on.

Russian hackers target Iowa grain co-op in $5.9 million ransomware attack - MSN

You do not think much about it, because the concept of a supply chain is not even a fuzzy proto-concept to you. It is why yesterday you thought China's electrical power supply problems did not affect you. Sure Xi has problems and I think he is a bit slow, but he will manage much better than Biden. Biden like many of his shortsighted voters are blissfully unaware there are many problems on the horizon.

Please take the Bloomberg approach to this news. Heck with please, I Know you will.

"Attack is believed to have been carried out by BlackMatter, a successor of Colonial Pipeline hacker DarkSide"

So if the group of people change their name, then when they next attack, it has not crossed Biden's line. Biden has a fig leaf. He has plausible deniability.

Darkside never, ever attacked again, so he can rightfully claim to be a tough guy.

Same people, but different name. See the difference?

“The greater challenge is, it gums things up right as crop harvest is beginning here in Iowa. That’s going to be the challenge, that one of the sizable co-ops is wrestling with the supply chain at the beginning of the busiest time of year.” - Dr. Chad E Hart

I took note of the word forecaster. You need some mathematical ability. So he could forecast most anything with a little additional study. The man has discipline.

Russian hackers target Iowa grain co-op in $5.9 million ransomware attack - Hawkeye Report

"Fort Dodge-based New Cooperative, a member-owned alliance of farmers that sells corn and soy products, contained the breach and developed a workaround to continue accepting grain shipments and distributing feed, a person close to the company told The Washington Post."

member-owned alliance of farmers?

Is that socialism? I bet the farmers make different amounts of profit per acre, in total and by farm.

So is it socialism?

“This event wasn’t long enough to cause a change in the commodity price, but certainly it will have ramifications in terms of the food supply system. If they do it to this company they could do it to one of the majors.

They can BLOCK the FOOD CHAIN.

They attacked in the heartland of all agriculture. It’s a new form of terrorism.”

- Bobby J. Martens, the Iowa Institute of Cooperatives

Maybe the next time it happens and happens bigger the people on the coast will have to resort to cannibalism?
