Poll Finds Americans Are Sensing That China Is Eclipsing U.S. Economically

Washington Post: Americans sense China eclipsing U.S. economically and say protecting U.S. jobs should be priority, poll finds

As competition between the United States and China intensifies, more Americans now say the Asian country is more powerful economically, a reversal from two years ago when a plurality said the United States had an economic advantage, according to a survey released Thursday by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.

The nationwide survey also found that protecting U.S. jobs ranks ahead of other American foreign policy priorities such as fighting global pandemics, combating international terrorism and limiting climate change.

But a majority do not see current policies as benefiting working-class or middle-class Americans. Instead, large majorities said that U.S. foreign policies help large companies, wealthy Americans, the government and the military.

WNU Editor: China, like the U.S., has its problems.

But if I was a betting man my money will be on China passing the U.S. economically within a decade.

China's economic infrastructure and manufacturing capability is massive, and their culture of education, work, and sacrifice to get ahead makes them a formidable foe..

The poll is here .... A Foreign Policy for the Middle Class—What Americans Think (2021 Chicago Council Survey).

Fuck the Washington Post. I don't believe a single thing printed in that bullshit excuse of a "newspaper".

"China's culture of education, work, and sacrifice to get ahead makes them a formidable foe.."

While in the USA, all the young people want to do is smoke dope, get tattoos, and live with Mommy and Daddy.

China has alresdy surpassed the US. It happened a long time ago actually. The editor's assessment is correct and explains why this gap is going to grow unless something cataclysmic happens to change it. To make matters worse for us we are currently led by nefarious idiots.

Anon 4:29 has pretty much nailed it with regards to our young people. Suffice it to say, at this point in time, we aren't a serious country.

China has far fewer economic leeches sucking it dry.

Moron: had you read the book, you would know it is not "how to write about poetry" but rather poetic forms used through the ages.

I never passed myself off as a poet. The book has not only sold well but is still studied both by poets and non-poets. Because you learned to read and write we do not expect you to be a novelist or
a journalist. But perhaps you never got beyond stalking and reading my oral history put out by a university. Now, since we know you have the basics of our language: fuck you

Creativity: I shall believe China is more creative than America when US will steal China technologies.

If you know the forms or structures, you should be able to use them.

It would almost be like studying type after type of calculus problem and then if you were given a problem requiring calculus that had not bee in the book you used for class, you were unable to solve it. It would call into question, if the person really understood calculus or just regurgitated at a high level of performance.

It would be like learning how to use a camera and then after learning never taking another picture ever again. Just odd.

You literally came to mind, when I read "China's culture of education ... ". I just remember all the worthless teachers, who were forced on students, dumbing them down.

... teachers of English, history, art, etc.

Get rid of that bullcrap and make education affordable and have it take less time. Have it take 3 1/2 years instead of 4 and with less debt.

Without a debt load and starting work earlier, have them come back to school out of desire not necessity. Then they can branch out and take English, art, and history on a more equal footing . I think profs and students would find it more productive and enjoyable.

If people enter the workforce at 20 and if they are going to live to 90 or 120 or even 130, I think a lot of them would be breaking down the doors to do something different, to grow. People cannot live on dining out, seeing games at the sport complex, and watching entertainment alone.

The educational-industrial complex is leaving a lot of money on the table by trying to shear too fast and too deeply.

"Some try to shear too fast, and in their haste shear badly. Some are rough and savage with the sheep, which do occasionally kick and become unquiet at critical times ..."

I've been to China many times

They work relentlessly like Germans and have equally good engineers by now

And they outnumber most nations by a cool billion+

And they're angry at every nation, just like Nazi Germany back then

If you think they'll accept US ships in their waters in just a few years from now, you have not been to China is my bet

They're at war with all of us and work with a speed and determination you will not believe. And our elite betray us while all this goes on. Attacking our own and selling out our advantages

The McKinsey and Goldman Sachs of this world... scum of the earth.. they robbed our governments of their public treasure through their "consulting"(read: theft) and then keep everything themselves in China

Consultants and bankers are the downfall if the west. Mark my words
