VOA: US to Hold First In-Person Talks with Taliban Since Withdrawal From Afghanistan
ISLAMABAD — Senior U.S. officials will hold in-person talks beginning Saturday with representatives of Afghanistan’s ruling Taliban for the first time since the U.S. withdrawal from the country.
U.S. State Department officials said the U.S. delegation will meet Saturday and Sunday in Doha, Qatar, with senior Taliban representatives.
Reuters news agency, which first reported the talks, said the U.S. delegation will include officials from the State Department, USAID and the U.S. intelligence community.

WNU Editor: There is no common ground between the U.S. and the Taliban. The only reason why the Taliban are showing up is to demand the release of monies and an end to sanctions, and their leverage are the hundreds of American citizens still in Afghanistan, and the thousands of Afghans with U.S. visas.
Update: So much for the White house and media narrative that the Taliban and the Islamic State are sworn enemies .... Taliban say they won’t work with US to contain Islamic State (AP). The Taliban have also made it clear that they will not contain Al Qaeda.
