No third country can veto Ukraine's wish to join NATO, the Pentagon chief has said. His statement comes after Moscow warned Kiev that joining the bloc would go beyond "red lines" and may prompt Russia to "take active measures."
Ukraine is free to decide its future and foreign policy, with no foreign entity having a say in its aspiration to join the NATO alliance, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said Tuesday.
"Ukraine… has a right to decide its own future foreign policy and we expect that they will be able to do that without any outside interference," Austin said at a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart Andrey Taran in Kiev.

The USA has its hands full with China threatening US possessions in the Pacific Ocean. Threatening Russian interests is moronic when so many NATO’ nations pay so little for national defense and the USA can’t take its eyes off China.
Y’all were so fine when trump hard lined Putin and Xi keep that same energy bud. Biden is simply following his policies
It is easy to understand that any nation has the right to choose its alliances without outside intervention.

Awful decision imo. NATO, at the behest of the US, has been encroaching closer and closer to Russia since the end of the cold war. I'm no great defender of Russia but I bet we have more in common with them than the Chinese.
