U.S. Facing Major Labor Strikes?

Axios: New wave of strikes will test worker power

Thousands of John Deere workers hit the picket line this week after the union smacked down a new worker contract from the farm and equipment maker.

Why it matters: There’s a wave of worker angst spreading across the country. They wield new power that’s come with a historic worker shortage.

* “We’ve never had the deck stacked in our advantage the way it is now," Chris Laursen, a worker at an Ottha, Iowa-based John Deere plant told the New York Times.

* “The company is reaping such rewards, but we’re fighting over crumbs here.”

Update: More than 100K workers threaten strikes as unions flex muscles (The Hill)

WNU Editor: Labor unrest is the last thing that the US economy needs right now. But all signs point to major labor unrest in the U.S., and if inflation, unemployment, and other economic shocks continue in the coming months, it is going to be a very turbulent 2022.

Why would a GS-5 be happy when a McDonald's worker makes $15 an hour. The machinations of loser liberals have a knock on effect. This is the fault of Bernie Sanders, the Squad, progressives in general, and the special interests pushing $15 an hour.

I see part of their point, but in the main the $15 an hour whiners are a bunch of losers and destroyers. What they should be shooting for is something like Hucks.

"We are a 100% Employee Owned Company. It takes a special person to be an associate with Huck’s."

It is also Joe Biden's and the Democrat establishment's fault for pushing CPOVID lockdowns and forbidding drilling. But old demented Joe was out and about at a kindergarten or pre-K talking to kids, because the teachers told them to behave and not show the fool up. Demented Joe could do something about the conditions causing the strike or otherwise calming things down, but he is not.

In the meantime, Taiwan assumes the US will fight for them. Fuck off.

There has to be a touch of resentment here, also. Some people since 2008 have made unfathomable amounts of money.

Just don't count on the corporate media to report it.

"Labor Strikes". It turns out that the redneck anti-vax hordes, the collective 'cultist' MAGA morons, the "nazi white trash" who dwell under US airline flight paths - are also the people who possess the skills to build things, fix things, grow things and ship things.

STOP,
VAX,
INSANITY,
NOW,

places paying very good salaries with good benefits do not have such problems. Is there a correlation between pay and employment?

1. Years ago, many textile mills in Maine. Lousy pay and conditions. Workers organized. Mills moved to the southern states. No unions. low taxes.
2. Southerns delighted with this new industry till--
3. owners found it still cheaper to move to Mexico.

Lapides, you never worked in a factory. How would you know. You are also illiterate, so exactly how can you opine about which you know so little about?

Union janitors pushing as broom made more than teachers with a 4 year degree. Is that right? Is that fair?

Someone other than Lapides can answer, because we know that dude is illiterate and can bring nothing but propaganda or piss and vinegar to the conversation.

What I find funny is that at a high tech manufacturing plant, blue collar, Democrat voters do not know the Pythagorean theorem.

Sad, but they would rather cheat their way though a test than learn mathematics.

You can lob them softball math questions and they would still rather cheat and then cheat some more.

I know because HR came to me and asked me to change the tests after the cheating came to light. I gave them nice round numbers to test their knowledge of concepts and not their ability to work with decimals.

But you want you car to work and not leave you stranded by the road side.

If the jobs went to Mexico, why are the bringing scabs again?

Anonymous said...

Not all jobs went to Mexico, of course, and that is silly statement. John Deere and Hollywood jobs are still here. How much of what you have right now in your apt or home or condo is made in places other than the US?

People proving they have not walked a factory floor nor do they know how to make things. Assembled in the US is good enough, eh?

If the US loses a war, eco-terrorists of the Democrat party will be in the top 5 reasons why.

Got to love people, who are all PhD and no skills.
