Reuters: Messages from Macron to Morrison leaked amid submarine deal row
CANBERRA (Reuters) - Australian media on Tuesday published messages between French President Emmanuel Macron and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, as Canberra seeks to push back against allegations it lied to Paris about a multibillion-dollar submarine contract.
Australia in September cancelled a deal with France's Naval Group, opting instead to build at least 12 nuclear-powered submarines after striking a deal with the United States and Britain.
The cancellation caused a major bilateral rift, and Macron on Sunday said Morrison had lied to him about Australia's intentions, a unprecedented allegation among allies.
Morrison has denied the claim.

Any American administration could have made the sale. General Dynamics Electric Boat or somebody in private industry put the bug in the administration's ear. C level at GDEB read the papers. They know the capabilities of nuke boats versus non nuke. The Australian government woke up after being repeatedly and specifically threatened by China. Breaking the contract and paying a penalty is a no brainer. The direct cause was China.
No one accused you of being in the IDF. When you were young enough, Israel fought several wars. Anyone here believe you would have volunteered yourself in the 50, 60 or 70s to fight for Israel? Me either.
