Can America's Aircraft Carriers Survive An All-Out Attack From China

The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) transits the Bay of Bengal as part of Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX) 2021, Oct. 16, 2021. MPX 2021 is a multilateral maritime exercise between the Royal Australian Navy, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, the Royal Navy, and U.S. maritime forces; focused on naval cooperation, interoperability, and regional security and stability in the Indo-Pacific. Asia Times: Can US carriers survive an all-out attack from China?

The PLA can now use DF-21Ds to “attack ships, including aircraft carriers,” more than nine hundred miles away

It’s the $64 question military analysts are pondering. Can high-tech lasers, improved missiles, better radar and improved networking better protect US carrier battle groups against advanced Chinese weapons?

We know that carriers will need to operate effectively in extremely high-risk combat environments.

So what are they up against?

I have my doubts about the DF-21's but subs and conventional missile saturation strikes are another matter in my opinion.

US carriers in the 1980’s faced long range attacks from USSR and found the F-14 armed with Phoenix air to air missiles to range out almost 900 miles. Effective.

China has found the weak spot with US carriers that will last for many years. USN needs to field a Phoenix type missile with 200 nm range plus drone tankers to have a chance against the bombers.

The Chinese are hell bent to produce exact copies of US carriers. If the Chinese thought large CVN's were obsolete, they wouldn't be frantically building them.

And by the way, the US has a highly effective defense against Chicom carriers.

Finding and attacking a carrier in realtime is extremely difficult. By the time the missile reaches its target it can be long gone.

Lol fazman dream on
Hyper sonic missiles are faster than bullets and can adjust their trajectory

Can't be that stupid..

I know who is stupid, the one who thinks that US is the only country that will use aircraft carriers.

@WNU@EVERYONE

Did you see? Major development in the Russia hoax, discrediting many Democrats, arrest made of sources of Steele dossier etc

They truly need to be trialled and likely hung. And I don't enjoy saying this. It's abhorrent what they've done to so many

I hear reports that US Aircraft carriers have reduced "battle stations" drills in favor of more crew meetings where the best ways of helping peoples of color overcome systemic racism is discussed. Will this help the US fleet when the Chinese attack? Obviously not however the US people can feel comforted that its sailors went to their graves with the correct political beliefs.

7:48 Forbes article is little more than disinformation. Once the Chinese have located a US carrier they track them continuously, thereby knowing where each carrier is at all times. The majority of tracking is done via satellite, followed by spy planes. The US carriers can not hide in the vastness of the ocean as one might think.

Captain Jack Sparrow would know where and how to hide 'Merican carriers. Ask him.
