No Safety Advisory From The US Army After Two Soldiersd Die In Rigorous Diving Training Exercises

The Combat Diver Qualification Course is known for its high drop-out rate  

Daily Mail: US Army FAILS to issue safety advisory after two soldiers die in rigorous diving training exercises at Special Ops course 

* The US Army has failed to issue a safety advisory or halt trainings after two Special Forces soldiers died during a diving training exercise 

* Staff Sgt. Micah Walker, 31, died during the Combat Diver Qualification Course at the Naval Air Station in Key West, Florida, on July 27 

* He was found unresponsive during the water-treading segment of the course 

* Two months later, Staff Sgt. Paul Lincoln Olmstead, 29, drowned during the same training at Fort Campbell in Kentucky 

* Typically when service members die, the US Army halts the trainings, which it has not done following these two deaths 

* The Army has not even issued a safety advisory for the course 

* As part of the training, soldiers have to disentangle their breathing apparatuses while wearing a blacked-out mask so they cannot see 

* They also must lift a 20-pound object from the bottom of the pool and tread water while wearing heavy equipment 

* But funding for the course has decreased over the past two decades and the equipment is now out of date 

The U.S. Army has failed to issue a safety advisory or halt trainings after two Special Forces operators died during a rigorous diving training exercise two months apart. 

Staff Sgt. Micah Walker, 31, died during the Combat Diver Qualification Course at the Naval Air Station in Key West, Florida, on July 27, after he was found unresponsive during the water-treading segment of the course. 

Just two months later, Staff Sgt. Paul Lincoln Olmstead, 29, also died during the same training at the Joe Swing Park Reservoir at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He was conducting a surface swim as part of the course on September 23 when officials say he went under water and never resurfaced.
