Defense News: China is too far away from NATO to be called an adversary, says top alliance general
ROME — NATO will not label China as an adversary in its next strategy document in part because it is too far away from the alliance’s sphere of interest, but members must still try to match its technological progress, according to the chair of NATO’s Military Committee.

WNU Editor: NATO is more focused on Russia at the moment. But not focused on China is a mistake.

China is the preeminent focus of USA’s foreign, economic and defense policy. Nothing comes close to the Chinese challenge. If NATO diminishes the Chinese challenge, the USA will downgrade its commitment to NATO.
NATO needs the USA, the USA doesn’t need NATO.
Xi Jimping is marvelously pleased to learn that. That's a big load and uncertainty out of his shoulder. Now our ally's, Japan, Australia and south Korea know they will have no support from the biggest alliance in the world. Even there is a 5th chapter in the treaty! Bravo!
China too far away, really!
One of the few times I agree with NATO's often misaligned assessments. Focusing on China would only hurt the already fragile NATO alliance. Let the US and other parties focus on China. NATO keeping its interest within its sphere of interest and focus on Russia is the main aim of the Alliance, straying from that is foolish and would only hurt its budget in the long run.
Then it's time for the US to pull out. Let the Europeans and their mighty army keep pissing off Russia. The US's threat is with China
