Kremlin Says Russia Will Break-Off Relations With The U.S. If Washington Sanctions Putin

New York Times

RT: Russia could break off relations if US sanctions Putin – Kremlin

American senators have proposed wide-ranging measures against Russian officials, including the president

If the US imposes personal sanctions against Russian President Vladimir Putin, it would be equivalent to Washington deciding to completely sever all relations with Moscow, the Kremlin has said.

Responding to a question on Thursday about draft penalties planned by a group of US senators from President Joe Biden’s Democratic Party, including direct restrictions on Putin and measures aimed at crippling Russian banks, spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, “Moscow does not plan to respond to anything yet, because we still want to hope that at least some common sense will prevail.”

The imposition of sanctions against the head of state and against the leader of Russia … is a measure that is comparable to severing relations,” he continued.

Depending upon which Forbes analysis we consult, Putin is either the most or second most powerful person in the world. As such, it is going to be pretty much impossible to sanction someone like this effectively, the target will view it as an act of war, and it will cause the end of the dollar as world reserve currency very quickly. At that point, the tables would be turned and top US officials, major US corporations, and major US business leaders would then be sanctioned. A man in Putin's position would probably be able to implement effective sanctions unlike those US officials can implement. As such, I don't think they are serious about this. Even they are not that stupid. On top of that, they will have major corporate leaders/donors who don't want to suffer enormous losses because of this folly explaining it to them. This one is a non-starter. Then again the US leadership has shown a penchant for stupid decision making!!

Sanctioning individuals instead of countries was started by the US around 2014 by the Obama administration. It has had a 7 year run and seems to have had poor results. It looked good at the time and I was for it. No longer.

I hope Obama III keeps on keeping on. We'll be at war soon.

Personal sanctions don't make sense: what if Putin leave power and an other Russian take over...and be manipulated by Putin behind the screen?

It has had poor results. I remember when they started this. I knew it would not work. I wrote letters to the White House explaining to them that it would not work and would only make things worse. Had they caught on and adjusted course it would probably be okay. Instead they are doubling down on failed policies. Doing the same things over and over again expecting different results is the part the definition of insanity.

Perhaps you want war. Perhaps your last paragraph is sarcastic. I'm sensing no one really wants war except perhaps the US leadership class. The editor points out in a war that Russians will fight. Personally I don't "know." I'm not Russian and have no contact with anyone there to be able to "know" for certain. He is from Russia and has a good track record. Essentially we could stop right there. He's probably right. If we further analyze what the media is reporting in multiple sources this would further tend to confirm what he says.

Now, as for America, we have litany of problems that go far beyond what either Russia or China currently face. A number of good analysis including those linked to by the editor strongly suggest America is not militarily ready for a big power conflict. As for the American people, after multiple fruitless military actions they are now virulently anti-war and will punish very severely any leader who gets them into such a conflict. This assumes they actually have time. Should Russia, China, or some combination of their allies strike the US mainland preemptively as well as other US military assets it may not be possible for us to respond. The focus of the American people, for the most part, is basic survival. It's truly cruel that our leadership class would put us through this.

Based upon the current trajectory I estimate a 99.95% probability we will be at war with Russia and their allies within the next three months. The editor has pointed out where he thinks this would lead. I pray he is wrong. A number of credible sources strongly suggest the US is not ready for such a conflict. I pray they are wrong.

The 99.95% probability of war assumes no change in trajectory. I personally think there are still just enough adults left in the US leadership class that such a change in trajectory will take place just in time. There are also still numerous people of the Christian faith in the US who are praying earnestly to God in this situation. As such, if all else fails, I expect Divine intervention to change the trajectory.

When we were almost at war with North Korea and their allies in the fall of 2017, we were able to avert war because the North Koreans, Chinese, Russians, and other North Korean allies respected and feared former president Trump. Former president Trump once pointed out that most people don't really know how close we were. Those who were paying attention and able to see past the media's misleading narratives do understand just how close we were. In September of 2017 we were within a maximum of six months away from war. Fortunately we were able to avert it. I pray we do so again.
