* North Korea has carried a third suspected weapons test in just over a week 

* Two short-range ballistic missiles used in the latest weapons test on Friday 

* The suspected test comes after the US imposed fresh sanctions this week 

* North Korea has refused to respond to US appeals for talks 

North Korea on Friday fired two short-range ballistic missiles in its third weapons launch this month in defiance of new US sanctions. 

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said the missiles came from an inland area in western North Pyongan province. 

Japan's Prime Minister's Office and the Defense Ministry also detected the launch, while its coast guard urged vessels to pay attention to falling objects.
