Russia's Central Bank Wants To Ban Cryptocurrencies

The move would see crypto transactions banned in the world’s largest country  

The Bank of Russia has unveiled proposals that would see the sale, mining and circulation of cryptocurrencies banned as part of a radical move that finance chiefs say would protect the economy from the risks associated with digital currencies. 

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Central Bank argued that “the status of the Russian ruble, which is not a reserve currency, does not allow Russia to take a soft approach or ignore the growing risks.”

WNU Editor: I understand why many are concerned about cryptocurrencies. The lack of regulation, stability, and reliability. But like it or not cryptocurrencies are the future, and this outright ban is is a mistake.

Disagree. Crypto currencies are a threat to the world economic system. They should be banned. By all nations. China will ban them in the future as well.

There is a documentary on highway robber and counterfeiter David "Robber" Lewis. He0operated for about a decade until 1820. One reason he was able to operate effectively was because local banks could issue currency. How was a person from one to town to know what a bank note form a town 3 towns away looked like?

Really no money is really worth anything. Money is built upon trust. As soon as people allocate stuff for themselves in large way and they so not reciprocate by producing a large amount of goods or service in return, it falls apart.

It’s here for good: Walmart doing their own coin, Micheal Jordan doing his thing, Visa/MasterCard accepting payment… it’s not going to stop.
