Reuters: Taiwan reports new large-scale Chinese air force incursion

TAIPEI, Jan 23 (Reuters) - Taiwan on Sunday reported the largest incursion since October by China's air force in its air defence zone, with the island's defence ministry saying Taiwanese fighters scrambled to warn away 39 aircraft in the latest uptick in tensions.

Taiwan, which China claims as its own territory, has complained for more than a year of repeated missions by China's air force near the democratically governed island, often in the southwestern part of its air defence identification zone, or ADIZ, close to the Taiwan-controlled Pratas Islands.

Taiwan calls China's repeated nearby military activities "grey zone" warfare, designed to both wear out Taiwan's forces by making them repeatedly scramble, and also to test Taiwan's responses.

What are the odds China and Russia have coordinated and China will move on Taiwan while Russia moves on Ukraine?

Pretty high at least with regards to Ukraine at least I'd say. The Ukrainian leadership appears to be complete and total idiots.

The US leadership class seems beholden to them. They seem more than willing to commit suicide in a fight for the goals of their Ukrainian chump masters. While their own suicide wouldn't necessarily be an issue, they seem perfectly happy and willing to take the rest of us with them!!

The Cold War is over. It didn't need to be restarted. We are glad the first one ended and don't wish to die in an unwinnable war against Russia and their allies.

As for Taiwan, it is a Chinese province that will eventually be reunited with China. Even the Taiwanese leadership grasps this. Their current actions are designed to better their position when the inevitable reunification happens!! Essentially China won't need to "move" against Taiwan.

East German was a German province and it was inevitable that is would be reunited with West Germany. It was a foregone conclusion? East Germany chose to join West Germany. They could have chose not to join.

Just because some dynasty conquered Taiwan in the past does not mean that Taiwan is forever and ever in Beijing's control. If it does, then Tibet and Xinjiang are forever and ever under Beijing control.
