I will be busy this afternoon organizing relief funds from Montreal for the tens of thousands of refugees now pouring by the hour into Poland and Hungary. The priority for me is medicines (insulin, antibiotics, etc.) and personal protective products. After-all. People still need their meds, and the pandemic is still raging in that part of the world. All of this is being done through the churches, and the Red Cross.
I know what we are doing is a drop in the bucket, but if we do not do it, who will?
On a personal note. I am frustrated that I am only able to post on WNU 10% on what I am learning and hearing as this war continues to rage. There is so much news and information that is not being reported on. The media on all sides are in propaganda mode and pushing a certain narrative, while conditions on the ground are the opposite,. And what is more frightening is no one is reporting on where this is all heading.
Sighhhh ....
There are so many hours in a day, and there is only so much that I can do.
Blogging will return later this evening.
One more thing.
For 8 years on WNU I always posted on my fear that Donbas will escalate
into a major war, and what must be done to avoid it. No need to to do
that anymore. No one listened, and those who did condemned me on this blog (even today) and elsewhere. And now the war has arrived.
But life goes on, and we must change with the times. This blog included. I will be shifting my focus to what is next, and more specifically, how this war will change everything.
And trust me on this. The geopolitical changes that will come out of this war will be immense.

reports are amassing that Russian forces are not making the progress they need, which increases the problems for the Russian plans in several ways
They are losing the propaganda war and badly so
The Ukrainian president is a TV super star by now, using his social media experience (and previous acting experience) to gain massive support from Europe
The Russian troops are not advancing fast enough, costing Russia plenty treasure.. within weeks Russia will not be able to afford this
Germany just OK'ed to send both anti tank weapons (about 1,000 missiles) and anti-aircraft missiles (about 500)
This is very, very, very bad news for Putin, not even talking about SWIFT and so on
Essentially, this war is over and Putin lost
Even, and perhaps especially if he manages to kill the Ukrainian president, he and any Russian will meet decades of resistance, if necessary, on Ukrainian soil - making a victory impossible
The ukrainians are united, the Russians are far from it
Putin is literally in his bunker, while Zelenskyy is defiantly rallying his troops and the general population
So, WNU
What will be Putin's next move after overlooking a disastrous war effort that will cost him treasure, blood, political support and geopolitical power?
Will he go all in and attack other countries in his mad effort to restore former Soviet glory?
Or will Russians get rid of him before he tears down their nation??
This is the question being asked and its getting louder by the minute
If nato gets involved with troops the end is nigh
I'm not sure "the question" is something WNU has the answer to. The unity shown by western Europe I'm support of Ukraine has been most impressive. If they keep this up, they and Ukraine may actually prevail.
This one is WAY to early to declare a winner. Zelensky's use of the media does seem to have been impressive. Perhaps the Russians didn't take the time to properly get to know their adversary before moving I'm. That's a common mistake that our (American) leaders make. Act in haste without taking the time or making the effort to properly understand the situation.
Maybe Zelensky is the 2022 version of "Baghdad Bob." It's to early to say and infornatuob is limited. If you're privy to inside information, then you should be able to answer "the question." If you can I'd like to know the answer!!
I appreciate what you are doing on War News Updates. You are doing your very best. I trust you more that most of what I find on MSM. You are only human but the effort you put in helping the charities, keeping us informed in what is going on while keeping contact with your family and friends in both Ukraine and Russia I find humbling. Thank you for effort you have put into the blog and keep up with the excellent work.
You and your family are in my prayers and thoughts.
The end is nigh? You scared bro?
I fully appreciate what you do here.
Always have.
Your alpha has more meaning to it than any news report.
WNU: your commentary is a greatly appreciated complement to your news posting. Been following your input on this conflict with special interest as you have additional connections and expertise on this niche conflict area (niche to me at least).
I think this fiasco has certainly backfired on the Russians, nations that at one time were on the fence about joining nato are now debating it. Since the Crimea campaign European countries have been upgrading outdated equipment. The economic cost will be enormous, wars are expensive, occupation even more so. I have been surprised about how lackluster the Russian push has been. Attacking from three sides, it’s hard to trust the tv footage but the troops seem to be coming in unsupported. Helicopters without gun ships, tanks or armored vehicles with no discernible infantry support. Also can anyone explain why there are fighting at night? Russian night vision gear has always been poor. My friend in the PLA says even the Chinese don’t want to copy. It’s almost surreal with people driving on the streets and busses moving about during the fighting.
I gave to the American Red Cross this morning although I’m not sure they have mush of an effort going
How can we help. Any real charities we can assist with clothes, donations, etc?

I am working with the Ukrainian Red Cross

I think the US Red Cross has a link where donations can flow.
Besides money I know they will take anything.
Clothes/socks/blankets/etc.
I and we greatly appreciate your immense efforts. Thank you from the bottom part of my heart. You and your family in my prayers
Your blog since then has mostly involved why russia has this right to violence in your opinion and from historical contacts. Now hiding behind red cross? Funny how charities/religion seem to hide the monsters, old boomer tactic from every country. Not all of us are woke but we are awake. Try harder
