Is A Global Food Crisis Imminent?

Financial Post: Russia Jolts Global Fertilizer Market by Seeking End to Exports

(Bloomberg) — Russia’s efforts to halt fertilizer exports by domestic producers threatens to shock the global market and push prices of crop nutrients to new records, exacerbating food inflation around the world.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade urged Russian fertilizer producers cut volumes to farmers due to delivery issues with foreign logistics companies, according to a Friday statement.

The country, which has been facing increasing international sanctions since invading Ukraine last week, is a major low-cost exporter of every type of crop nutrient.

“Losing Russia and their large export volumes would be a severe supply-side shock to the market,” Alexis Maxwell, an analyst for Bloomberg’s Green Markets, said in an email.

Update: Food Crisis Imminent: Hungary Bans All Grain Exports Effective Immediately (Zero Hedge)

WNU Editor: The above video is a sobering look at what to expect at the local grocery story in the coming months. And while I do not expect a $1000 a month increase in grocery bills, I do expect massive increases.

We are facing an energy crisis. Commodity prices have passed and/or are at the highest prices that they have ever been. But the real scary crisis will be in food. If the Russia-Ukraine war continues, I will not be surprised if we see food riots later this year.

When the pandemic first started I was asked what would be the best investment. I always said food. I am still saying the same thing. Invest in food for yourself, and look at the companies that provide the ingredients that make massive food production and distribution possible.

Russia has announced it is banning the export of fertilizer. The cost of food is going to skyrocket.

There will be unrest in America. It will be worse than OWS. Will It be worse than the George "I administered myself a lethal dose of fentanyl" Floyd? I don't think so for now.

Spinning will in the short term will get The Biden Political Machine 3 to 10 points.

Don't worry guys, Klaus Schwab already has a plan, a total solution, he and the rest of the war mongers and thieves have been working on for years.

And when you're desperate enough because of the things they did, you'll accept it all

1:46 probably is too.

If Russia bans fertilizer, it deprives them of money while depriving us of the item. They will hurt as much and perhaps even more in so doing.

Tucker needs more fiber in his diet, I suggest apples and prune juice.

That'll clear him right out; get rid of that constipated smirk.

He might even become less of a white nationalist doucheboy.

That fertilizer won't hurt the US directly, but it will hurt Western Europe, the Middle East And Africa. Libyan fighting will break out for sure That is for starters/

Think 1:49. Use you head for something more than a hat rack.

"The price of flour in Libya went up 31 percent the day after the Russian invasion of Ukraine began ten days ago. These two countries account for 30 percent of world wheat exports and Libya gets all of its annual 1.35 million tons of wheat and barley imports from Russia and Ukraine. Other sources, mainly in the Americas and Australia, are available but they are much farther away, meaning higher shipping costs in addition to the shortage-related price increases. Before the civil war Libya produced most of the grains it needed but economic and transportation disruptions have halted most of that."

Like I said violence will flare up in Libya. I am not looking forward to it. It just is.

Turkey will be in the middle of it.

Then what do you propose to stop Russia from not shipping fertilizer? lift all sanctions against Russia? Give us your way to deal with this

Anonymous said...

Certainly not continuing the policy you've advocated. Why is your picture in the dictionary under stupidity?

IDIOT MOTHERFUCKER: "Then what do you propose to stop Russia from not shipping fertilizer? lift all sanctions against Russia? Give us your way to deal with this"

You present a false dichotomy. there is a 3rd way.

Open up gas leases. Drill in ANWR. Build the Keystone XL pipeline. Give tax-right-offs for refinery maintenance. that last really sticks in your craw, because you do not understand anything.

"The decision by the Biden administration to delay new oil and gas leases on federal lands is unconscionable."

thanks. And the fertilizer Russia sanctioning?

4:15 aka IDIOT MOTHERFUCKER,

The sanction are at near 100%, so what are you going to to do? Send in Marines to make workers make fertilizer in Russian factories?

Sanction would be at 100%, but Washington desperately wants Russian goods, since the fools, while still wanting to run all things have not figured out how to run any one industry anywhere but into the ground.

How did Biden screw up on Ukraine? or do you mean Trump? Orange man wanted to do away with NATO.
He withheld military funds for Ukraine to pressure that govt to find something to use against Biden!

"We must remember that those cheering the Ukrainian regime are still claiming that President Trump colluded with Russia's President Vladimir Putin to rig the 2016 elections and that the protests on Jan. 6, 2020, that went overboard were an insurrection. They now baselessly blame Trump for this conflict because he is "weakening NATO." The long-term goal is, was, and will always remain to prevent Trump from winning the White House in 2024."

And actually it was Biden who extorted Ukraine. When he boasted on camera his demand that the Ukraine government pull their prosecutor investigating his son Hunter or no billion US tax dollars.

"Well, son of a bitch!"

As long as Biden, Hillary and all these corrupt fcks remain free and are not in jail you might as well not have any laws at all

You're a lawless nation, and that's why there's so much chaos

If the leadership is corrupt, don't be surprised if this corruption spreads even to the voting process and people kick out poll watchers and pull out ballots in the middle of the night.

You're a nation in free fall until you end this madness
