OilPrice.com: Energy Execs Tell Granholm Shuttered U.S. Oil Refineries Won’t Restart
U.S. energy executives told Jennifer Granholm that shuttered crude oil refineries won’t restart, Valero’s Chief Executive Joe Gorder said on Tuesday.
The comments were made to the U.S. Energy Secretary at a recent White House meeting with energy executives, Reuters reported on Tuesday.
“The one interesting thing that came out of it, too, was there was consideration for the ability to restart refining capacity that had been shut down, and I think the general sentiment was that wasn’t going to happen,” Gorder said.

Perhaps we can begin to change this after the next election. If there is a so called "red wave," perhaps these new leaders will take a much more reasonable approach to the oil and gas industry. Naturally they will want to take a wait and see approach and will want some kind of assurances that the current group of leaders once out of power will never return nor will anyone like them.
A fundamental change needs to be happen in how we as Americans view the oil and gas industry. Instead of demonizing it and cheering on leaders who want to destroy it, the industry and those with the expertise to make it operate properly along with the oil and gas need to viewed as national treasures that we would all be willing to sacrifice much for to save and protect. Instead of trying to destroy it the goal of government and the leadership class should be to expand the domestic oil and gas industry and expand it exponentially.

"The manufacturers’ advice on storage gives some clues as to what might happen to degrade the oil. Extremes of temperature can affect oil in different ways. Too hot and thermal breakdown occurs reducing the oil’s viscosity (its “weight” or thickness), which if used leads to a decreased flow rate and in turn to increased oil consumption, the build-up of deposits, and potential damage to engine surfaces. Too cold and sludge will form in the oil, blocking engine oil passages and eventually becoming too thick to flow at all."

Imagine what happens to a refinery sitting unused ... besides rust and corrosion form the elements.
These complete and utter idiots (greedy little bastards) do not understand you cannot start and stop the supply chain with the ease that they throw a light switch. Ditto for an oil refinery.
Now, if the government wants more refineries, they will have to literally pay the oil companies. And why not? The GOV paid drug companies big bucks for COVID vaccines that do not stop COVID transmission. That was admitted-to by a big pharma execs in Europe.
None of these assholes with JDs, poly sci majors, public policy or public administration majors or international relations degrees, put pen to paper and gamed out the feasibility of so called clean energy versus oil.
Granholm is a shining example of such a degreed doofus. She is a Canadian carpetbagger to boot.
It is shame that Ash Carter died or he could have replaced doofus face. Carter could actually calculate.
