as for military budget: it is the one bridge between parties. History shows that every pentagon budget request is always upped by the Dems and GOP in billions more than asked for! It is what Ike warned about. it is the one thing that gets congress to agree: feed corporations that make military shit. Who cares if the Pentagon's request is upped. That could be nothing more than a shell game. The Whitehouse asks the Sec Def to low ball the request and the the politicos swoop in to save the day. What the DoD budget should be base on is the QDR with parties as staking their reputation on picking the low estimate the mid estimate or the high estimate of what is need to combat threat.
When talking DoD budget any budget proposal without reference to the QDR estimates is worthless.
