Nato And G7 Leaders Will Meet To Respond To A Russian Missile Strike On Polish Territory

Daily Mail: NATO and G7 plot Putin responses: Officials arrange urgent meetings TODAY after Warsaw confirmed 'Russian-made' missile DID cause blast in Polish village that killed two and raised fears of worst conflict in Europe since WWII

* Explosions hit Przewodów, a rural village located five miles from Ukrainian border, on Tuesday afternoon

* A US intelligence official claimed the fatal blasts were caused by wayward missiles fired by Moscow

* Other reports suggested parts of the debris looked similar to components of Ukrainian air defence system

* But Poland's foreign ministry confirmed Tuesday night a Russian-made missile was responsible for blasts

* The incident came as Moscow launched a barrage of fresh missile attacks across the whole of Ukraine

* Poland is a member of NATO, whose member states agree to maintain a policy of 'collective defence'

* European diplomats from NATO member states will meet tomorrow to discuss options for collective response

Nato officials and G7 leaders will meet later on Wednesday to plot a 'collective response' to a Russian missile strike on Polish territory that killed two and left Europe on a knife-edge.

Russian missiles landed inside Nato territory for the first time since the invasion of Ukraine began in February – reviving fears the fighting could spiral into the worst conflict in Europe since the Second World War.

The weapons exploded on a grain farm inside Poland after apparently being intercepted by Ukrainian air defence systems, triggering a diplomatic crisis and a military response.

Update: NATO consultations possible after Poland ‘missile strike’ (RT)

WNU Editor: What will NATO do?

Send weapons and military support to Ukraine? They are already doing that.

Impose sanctions? Already done.

Seize Russian assets? Already done.

Mobilize military forces in eastern Europe? Already done.

The only thing that they can do that is different is send NATO forces into Ukraine. But that means World War 3.

So what will be the NATO response? You tell me.

What will probably happen is that it'll be "officially" declared an errant Ukrainian SAM and forgotten about.

President Andrzej Duda of Poland said his government doesn’t yet conclusively know who fired a missile that struck Polish territory late Tuesday, killing two civilians.

President Andrzej Duda said the projectile was “Russian-made” and variously referred to it as either a missile or a rocket.

“What happened was an isolated incident”

They'll still go through the all the hoops and meetings to draw out the process so that it gets memory-holed and they don't actually have to ascribe blame to anyone. But Duda clearly wants either a more convincing "event" to trigger escalation or possibly just doesn't want it at all.

Next couple weeks will tell I guess--seems like it was an errant missile of some kind and not intentional

I agree, not intentional. Unless it was a provocation, but to what purpose? Russia already has its hands full dealing with a second-rate Ukrainian military. And I doubt they're unwilling to pick a nuclear fight with a peer (if not superior) military alliance.
